Have you heard? We have launched our own website! 🚀

The new website is to support those experiencing stress, anxiety, low mood or depression.

Aileen McArthur, Head of Talking Therapies said: “We often hear that getting the right type of mental health information and support is difficult so we hope the new BSW Talking Therapies site will make it much easier for people to get the help and signposting they need more quickly and conveniently.”

On the twelfth day of Christmas, my therapist shared with me 'The Chimp Paradox' by Professor Steve Peters.

An amazing introduction to CBT, using easy to understand language of our chaotic chimp and organised computer brain. A great read for those struggling with stress or fans of our Stress and Mood Management course.

On the tenth day of Christmas my therapist shared with me 'Classic Pacing: For a Better Life with ME' by Ingebjørg Midsem Dahl.

At Lift Psychology we work with many long term health conditions, hosting a range of courses aiming to help with managing these and any mental health difficulties interlinked with this. You can find out more about these courses, starting in the new year, on our website. Pacing is something that has been strongly recommended for many conditions, including fatigue, so this is a suggestion for those awaiting our courses. Here is a book recommendation from Swindon's Chronic Fatigue team.

On the ninth day of Christmas my therapist shared with me 'Overcoming Anxiety, 2nd Edition: A Self-Help Guide Using Cognitive Behavioural Techniques' by Helen Kennerley.

This is part of the Overcoming series - an amazing collection of books dedicated to overcoming different struggles with anxiety, from health anxiety, phobias, panic and OCD to worry. A short and practical book.

On the eighth day of Christmas my Therapist shared with me 'The Sleep Book' by Dr Guy Meadows.
A third of the population sleep badly, especially with all the changes to our routines that can happen with Christmas trips and the frenzy of organising. But you don’t have to be one of them. Using a blend of mindfulness and new ACT therapy techniques, the book shares a five-week plan to help your sleep problem. The Sleep Book is the sum of a doctorate degree in sleep and well over 12,000 hours spent working with more than 2,000 insomniacs in one-to-one clinics, workshops and retreat environments.
(Available at the library for free).

On the seventh day of Christmas, my therapist shared with me 'Mind Over Mood, Second Edition: Change How You Feel by Changing the Way You Think' by Dr Greenberger and Dr Padesky.

Cited as “The Most Influential Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy Publication” by the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies. This is a self help workbook providing an introduction to CBT (the main therapy we use at Lift Psychology) with a main focus on managing critical and anxious thoughts so we can get back into the life we want. A book best read over a few weeks or months, so you can take a week or two to complete each worksheet.
