We're sad to announce that our walking group has come to an end!

Although our regularly attending patients may still enjoy meeting, it will no longer be formally led by our Social Prescribing team.

Thank you all for being great participants! Keep finding ways to stay active and spend time outdoors. 💪🏃‍➡️

We will be closed this afternoon from 12.30 for staff training.

Although the surgery is closed our usual number will be open for emergencies.

We DO NOT take prescription requests over the telephone , there are several different reasons for this

💊 Medications are patient specific and we need to have the exact name and dosages
💊 Some medications sound the same BUT are very different
💊 Sometimes medication requests have to be sent to a clinician so having them in writing allows us to be able to do this effectively
💊 We can sometimes receive over 250 medication requests every day !

There are several different ways to order medication

💊 The NHS app
💊 Our dedicated e mail (underwood.scripts@nhs.net)
💊 Written request slip at reception
💊 Via your pharmacy

Remember to give at least 3 days for repeat medications and 5 days for an Acute request …

If you use the NHS app you will only be able to see/order medication that is due for re order …

☎️Please be advised that Underwood Surgery will be implementing a new telephone system tommorow !
We don’t envisage any major issues but some disruption while we all adjust to the new system may occur !!

☎️ ☎️We are currently in the process of changing our phone system to help the surgery become more accessible to our patients , please be patient as we expect a few teething problems ☎️
Our new system will give you the option to receive a call back if the wait time to speak to a receptionist is timely.
The new system is due to be rolled out from the 13th June ! We will update you with any significant issues should there be any ! ☎️☎️
☎️Our receptionists will be fully trained before we go live but please be respectful and patient with them as we all get used to the new system ☎️

📢 Important Notice: Blood Test Disruption: 12 May - 25 May

Due to industrial action by phlebotomists (staff who take blood samples), there will be no routine blood tests in some outpatient areas this coming week and next week.

🚫 No routine blood tests will take place at: West Block Outpatients, Cheltenham General Hospital; Gloucester Quayside Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC); Edward Jenner Unit, Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.

Some exceptions apply, please see our website for details: 👉 www.gloshospitals.nhs.uk/industrial-action

If your clinic needs a blood sample, we’ll either:
✔️ Take it during your appointment,
🔁 Or book you back in after the strike.
You can also walk in for a test after the action ends.

💉 Emergency and urgent care services will continue taking bloods as normal.
