For those of us boiling in a hot car today (or for those of us who have broken air con 🙋🏼‍♀️), this WORKS!

That age-old dilemma of choosing between having a non-sweltering car or baffling a passerby because you look like a fool who doesn't know how to use a door

My second favourite festival is here (we all know that nothing beats the Lit Fest for me!) and I’m armed with my trusty notebook and pen, ready to learn more about health, wellbeing and what makes us all tick.

Last year’s festival was all about unlocking our microbiome and learning about our gut, discussing whether women should speak up (yes we should!), understanding toxic positivity, reclaiming neurodiversity and about the impact of social connection on our health and wellbeing.
(Always happy to chat about any of those!)

I’ll be sharing the helpful nuggets of information from this year’s Sci Fest over the next few days.

Which events are you most looking forward to?

At the start of a new week (and YAY! for Bank Holidays!), how are you getting on with your ‘Self Care Bingo’ for May? Anyone got a full house yet??
(Don’t worry if you haven’t - I haven’t either. We’ve still got a few days left..)

Life gets busy. Responsibilities pile up. We often give so much to everyone else that it’s all too easy to forget the most important person in the equation… OURSELVES.

As ironic as this may sound, taking care of ourselves is one of the best ways to be there for others.

So I had a slow start to my day, took the morning off, went for a walk and am looking forward to a Silent Book Club tonight (designated reading time in a cosy pub with like-minded people, each reading whatever we like and not having to discuss or analyse it!).

What are you doing for yourself today?

Music is not only a joy but a boost to well-being. And that’s my excuse for enjoying some fabulous events at Cheltenham Festivals Jazz Festival over the bank holiday weekend!

It’s been a busy month so I started the weekend feeling a bit shattered but felt a definite fizzing of energy and a brightened mood by the end (phew!).
Jools Holland, Corinne Bailey Rae, Blind Boys of Alabama and the toe-tapping Soul Jazz Summit with a stellar line-up will do that!

Do you use music as part of your well-being routine? It can lower cortisol and promote relaxation, increase dopamine levels and engaging with music can help us process emotions too.
Starting the day with upbeat music or a little kitchen disco (I’m always a fan) or ending the day with some calming, soothing music to prepare for sleep: which works for you?

Emotional Release Reflexology is proving to be a hit and I’m loving seeing the results in my clients. As are they!
“I’m smiling again and feel happy for the first time in a long while.”
“I feel SO much lighter.”
“My back pain has all but disappeared.”

It’s never not a privilege to see and hear how people respond to it. It’s reflexology on a deeper level!

If you’ve experienced reflexology before then you’ll probably know how relaxing it is, or how it’s helped you to deal with health issues or physical discomfort, stress levels or sleep patterns. And after over 20 years of being a reflexologist I’ve seen it help countless people in numerous wa...

Let’s celebrate all the women who give us the strength, love, and guidance we need; who mother in other ways than having children.

Let’s remember those who are missing their mums, yearning to be a mum, grieving their children.

To the mums of fur-babies, to the foster mums, aunts, godmothers, adoptive mums; to the carers, teachers and supporters.

We see you all. Mother’s Day isn’t only about mothers. We all mother in a multitude of different ways.
Happy Mother’s Day to every incredible woman!

When you gently finish a treatment and the first words you hear are “I’ve been lying here wondering how to tell you how amazing this was but I can’t find the words so we’re just going to have to get married” was a real laugh out loud, joyful moment.
Possibly one of my most memorable comments and right up there with “has anyone ever told you that you look just like Lady Edith from Downton Abbey?” (No, they hadn’t but yes, I will absolutely take that!! 😆)

You’ve got through 2024 - well done!
Maybe it was your best year, maybe it was a struggle to get through, maybe you’re glad to see the back of it, maybe its memories will sustain you as we enter 2025.
Maybe you’re celebrating the fact that you’re still standing at the end of it rather than the list of things you’ve achieved. Still being here can be the biggest achievement!
Maybe 2025 won’t be ‘your year’, maybe it will.
Maybe you’re anticipating joy or maybe you’re facing heartbreak. So as you scroll through your social media and see the posts celebrating all that people achieved last year and are looking forward to in this one, just remember you’ve got through everything that this last one brought you. That’s enough.
And Happy New Year.
