Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback — we're pleased to hear that the doctor was able to help.

We truly understand how frustrating it can be when appointments run behind schedule, and we want to reassure you that we are continually working to improve this aspect of our service.

To help us provide the best possible care, we kindly ask that when booking an appointment, you give our reception team a brief overview of your concern. This allows us to update your records and helps the doctor prepare more effectively for your visit.

We'd like to introduce to you our two trainee GPs, Dr Aloyscious and Dr Betton, who will both be leaving us shortly as their training comes to an end.

Both have been fantastic additions to our practice, bringing fresh perspectives and a commitment to patient care. They've shown great resilience and we've received wonderful feedback about their knowledge and patience.

We are incredibly grateful for their hard work and dedication during their time with us and will miss their friendly faces when the time comes for them to take the next step in their careers.

If you've had the pleasure of seeing either of our fantastic trainee GPS during their time here, please feel free to share your positive experiences in the comments!

🚨 Breaking news: At-home sampling kits will be offered to women and people with a cervix in England to help tackle barriers to the life-saving cervical screening programme.

Yesterday, the Department of Health and Social Care - DHSC announced that people six months overdue for a cervical screening test will be invited to take part in the self-sampling initiative. This will help break down known barriers to cervical screening such as stigma and discomfort, by allowing people to carry out the test from home 🏡

The decision follows research which revealed that 400,000 additional people could be screened each year by offering the new option

Less than seven out of ten people eligible for cervical screening in England are currently taking part, and participation has been declining for the past ten years.

When the at-home kits are rolled out, anybody that tests positive for HPV will then need to go for a follow-up to check the findings.

Remember, screening is for people without symptoms. If you notice any unusual changes for you, do not wait for a screening invitation - speak to your doctor.

Update: Weight Loss Injections on the NHS.

You may have seen the recent news regarding Mounjaro (Tirzepatide), launching on the NHS today.

NHS England says while the long-term plan is for the jabs to be more widely available, a staggered approach is needed to reach those most at need, manage GPs' workload and NHS resources.

⛔ It is important to understand GP practices, including ours, are not yet able to prescribe it and that there is strict eligibility criteria.

Please do not call at this time to request Mounjaro, or an appointment related to requesting weight loss injections.

Please visit this link to learn more, including who will be eligible once it is available, and other available support options: https://yorkleighsurgery.co.uk/weight-loss-injections/

It's Cervical Screening Awareness Week. Here are the most common symptoms of cervical cancer.

Not everyone diagnosed with cervical cancer will have symptoms, but if you’ve noticed anything unusual for you, or any changes that haven’t gone away, talk to your doctor. In most cases, it won’t be cancer, but if it is, diagnosing it early can make a real difference ❤
