πŸ“’ Important update for patients attending Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) appointments

Some patients may be asked to attend the Mobile Cancer Care Unit (MCCU) instead of Avening Ward at Cheltenham General Hospital for their Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) appointments.

The MCCU is a purpose-built mobile unit supported by the national cancer charity Hope for Tomorrow bringing cancer treatment closer to home. You’ll receive the same high standard of care from our experienced oncology teams, in a calm, welcoming environment.

πŸ‘‰ Practical benefits often include easier parking, shorter walking distances and more convenient drop-off/pick-up for carers and family.
πŸ‘‰ Decisions on where you receive treatment are based on factors like your location and the level of clinical oversight you need, helping us manage capacity so every patient gets timely, appropriate care.

If you have any questions or concerns about your appointment location, please speak with your treatment team. They are happy to help and ensure you feel fully supported.

🏠

Unfamiliar surroundings and a very busy environment mean that hospitals aren't always the best place for recovery and rehabilitation.

And we know there’s no bed like your own bed when it comes to getting a good night’s rest to recover from illness.

There are several things you can do to help someone who is coming home from hospital, including getting their bedroom set up, stocking up their fridge and making sure they have everything they need.

Heading to the Women's Centre at night? πŸŒ™πŸ‘Ά

If you're arriving at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital at night for maternity care, here's what you need to know:

πŸš— You can be dropped off right outside the Women's Centre entrance on Mayhill Way - just press the buzzer to be let in.

πŸ…ΏοΈ Your birth partner can drop you off but should then park in the Tower Car Park (via Great Western Road).

πŸ•™After 10pm, some of our entrances are closed for security reasons, but just use the intercom at the Tower Entrance and hospital staff will let you in remotely.

➑️ Once inside, follow the signs to the main Tower lifts and head left to reach the Women's Centre.
