Fix Your SH*T

Episode 1 = Strong Lower Back 💪🏼

I wanted to create some go to videos to help you with your ni**les, pain and weak spots! These are my fave exercises that I give clients to work on as their rehab to helping them get to thoughtless, fearless movement 🫶🏻

Strength training is super important especially for our lower backs, as they do so much!
We need happy and healthy lower backs for core stability, preventing injury, improving everyday movement as well as movements in the gym and performance in sports 🏋🏻‍♀️

A lot of us hurt our lower backs and then become scared of doing anything to hurt it again…but don’t be afraid! Moving your back in a safe way and building that resilience again is the start of a strong foundation, get in touch to get you moving again 🥰

Give these exercises a go, go for 10 reps of each for 2-3 sets 😍

Fix Your SH*T

Episode 1 = Lower Back Strength

1️⃣ Supports Your Spine and Posture

Your lower back (lumbar region) is what keeps your spine stable and upright.
➡️ Strong lumbar muscles help maintain the natural curve of your spine, preventing slouching and improving posture.
➡️ Weakness here often leads to over compensation and chronic tension in the upper back and neck.

2️⃣ Reduces and Prevents Back Pain

Lower back pain is one of the most common physical complaints worldwide — and weak back muscles are a top cause.
➡️ Strengthening your lower back helps support your vertebrae, discs, and ligaments, reducing strain.
➡️ It also balances the muscles between your core, glutes, and hamstrings, which work together to protect the spine.

3️⃣ Improves Core Stability

Your lower back is a key part of your core, along with your abs, obliques, and pelvic muscles.
➡️ A strong core helps stabilize your body during movement, protects against twisting injuries, and improves balance.
➡️ It’s what allows you to move powerfully without hurting yourself.

4️⃣ Enhances Everyday Function

You use your lower back in almost everything you do — sitting, standing, bending, lifting, walking, even breathing.
➡️ A stronger lower back makes these movements smoother and less fatiguing.
➡️ It also helps you stay active and independent as you age.

5️⃣ Prevents Injury During Exercise and Lifting

When your lower back is weak, other muscles (like your hamstrings or hips) try to compensate — which increases your risk of strain or injury.
➡️ Strong lumbar muscles provide the stability needed for safe weightlifting, running, and sports.
➡️ It enhances performance in activities like sprinting, jumping, swimming, cycling, and weight training.

6️⃣ Balances the Body

Many people train abs but neglect the lower back — this creates a muscle imbalance that can cause pain.
➡️ Strengthening your lower back restores symmetry and keeps your muscles working as a team not individuals.

In short a strong lower back means:
✅ Better posture
✅ Less pain
✅ Stronger core
✅ Safer lifting
✅ Improved mobility
✅ Long-term spinal health

Let me know how you get on with these exercises 🫶🏻

✌🏻P.E.A.C.E & L.O.V.E 🫶🏻

There is growing research out there to say that RICE is now out dated and that the body needs gradual load, movement & confidence to keep injuries at bay and recovery effective post injury

Stop freezing and resting your recovery, as this will just slow you down! Start rebuilding the body and get back on track 🏋🏻‍♀️

If you have an ache, pain, ni**le or injury and need help getting pain free but also moving well again, get in touch and let’s get this ball rolling 🥰

I am thrilled to announce the 2 new team members who will be joining me at Back on Track 🤩🥳

The is HUGE moment for me and my business, I am very excited to be working alongside these 2 talented women to bring new and existing clients even more care, and availability to keep you moving!

I shall let them introduce themselves….

Hi, I’m Phoebe! I’ve been a sports massage therapist for nearly 5 years and have also trained in physiotherapy and acupuncture. My passion for sports massage started after a few injuries of my own through skiing and cricket, an experience that taught me how tough setbacks can be. That’s why I’m passionate about offering the kind of support I once needed, and why I really understand recovery from both sides. When I’m not with clients, you’ll usually find me grabbing a coffee, playing sport, or out with my dogs.

📆 Phoebe will be in clinic on Mondays, Tuesdays & Fridays from October.

Hi, I’m Lucy! I am a qualified sports massage therapist, certified Coach in Running Fitness (CIRF), and Leader in Running Fitness (LIRF). I combine my passion for movement, performance, and recovery with over 12 years of endurance running experience. From marathons and ultra-marathons to triathlons, I draw on my athletic background and passions to help others move, heal, and achieve their personal best.

📆 Lucy will be in clinic on Fridays from November.

They are both available to book through the link in the bio, I hope you welcome them with open arms and get yourselves booked in!

Why We Run 4.0

Wow, what a week with some amazing people running 250km along the Pembrokeshire costal path over 5 days, all while raising money for .charity 🫎 (£50k+ was raised!)

is an event I have been involved with for 3 years now, and each year it shows me how amazing the human body is, with its mental & physical resilience to do hard things! Alongside the amazing human connections we make that keep us pushing even when we think we can’t 🥰

As it’s also just me in clinic, it’s great to get out and work alongside some amazing therapists & crew learning from each other, and supporting some crazy people run further than they ever have!

At this event I help runners with early morning tape provided by the amazing including taping way too many toes 🙈😅 and also providing post run care through soft tissue & injury assessments to help them get to that end goal of 250km!!

I love being able to take my work out of the clinic and help ordinary people achieve extraordinary things 💕

My cup is well and truly full…(bar sleep 😴) however, photos and words will never get across the magic of this event, if you want to get involved…please do 🫶🏻

MYTH: You must completely rest after an injury 🙅🏻‍♀️

REALITY: Early, gradual movement is 🔑 for recovery.

When you stop moving altogether, the body doesn’t just “heal faster”. In fact, prolonged rest can create more problems…
🔸 Muscle atrophy - strength loss from decrease in movement
🔸 Decrease in range of movement & joint stiffness
🔸 Fear avoidance - the brain begins to associate certain movement patterns with danger/fear
🔸 Delayed tissue remodelling - tissues need load to promote healing (the right amount)

On the other hand, controlled, gradual progressive loading has clear benefits:
🔹 Stimulates circulation to aid healing process
🔹 Maintains neuromuscular control
🔹 Reduces sensitivity and restores confidence in movement patterns
🔹 Helps tissues to adapt to the demands

This being said, the key to promoting healing post an injury is find ing the RIGHT load. By introducing safe, appropriate movement patterns early, through guided rehab exercises.

Not all injuries are the same, and there are certain injuries where this may not apply straight away, so seek a professionals help with how to attack your injuries…

This is where I come in 🙋🏻‍♀️ my goal is to get clients back to thoughtless, fearless movement post injury and get you moving and feeling strong again

Struggling with your rehab journey or unsure how to approach it post injury, get in touch 💌

Client Review 🫶🏻

I have been with Amy for nearly 3 years and what a journey we have been…more than a client 💕 So proud of how far Amy has come in the last year, onwards and upwards 🔥

We covered all sorts in the gym, from rehab to strength training, making the gym an enjoyable place to be when you’re at your most vulnerable!

——————————————

I’ve had back issues for over a decade, and after years of trying all sorts of treatment, including back surgery, I decided to give PT a go! Chloe immediately put me at ease- she helped me to start to get strong, learn how to use a gym, and build my confidence. For the first time in a long time, I felt able to push myself- doing fun challenges like multi day hikes and very long cycles.

After a really awful flare up last year, my goal was to walk to the end of the road again and the idea of doing the things I enjoyed felt very sadly impossible. Chloe was at the end of the phone- encouraging me and sharing advice. Then, over time, she has helped me to get my mobility back and progressively challenged me through weekly sessions and a training programme to shift from basic movement back to getting strong. I have no doubt that it’s thanks to Chloe that I have been able to come off medication, wiggle my toes again and most incredibly, start to do the things I love again- getting back on my bike and doing some epic hikes, as well as finding a surprising new enjoyment for the gym!

I love Chloe’s immense positivity, can do attitude and the way that she empowers me to understand and work with my body rather than against it. I am forever grateful for the way she has helped me to understand how my mind processes injury, been so patient and consistent in pushing me forward, and given me the tools to rebuild my physical and mental strength. Seeing her each week is an absolute joy and I feel so lucky to have found her 🥹
