Children under 6 are now routinely offered the MMRV vaccine as part of the NHS childhood vaccination programme.

MMRV replaces the existing MMR vaccine and adds protection against chickenpox, alongside measles, mumps and rubella.

You don’t need to do anything — your GP will contact you when your child is due.

💉Childhood Immunisation Update 💉

As you may or may not be aware, childhood immunisations have recently changed.

The routine vaccines given at 12 months and 3–4 years have traditionally been the MMR vaccine, protecting against measles, mumps and rubella.

From this year, the government has added varicella (chickenpox) to the schedule. This means children aged between 12 months & 18 months will now receive the MMRV vaccine, which protects against:
• Measles
• Mumps
• Rubella
• Varicella (chickenpox)

New NHS data shows a rise in winter virus cases – including flu – in hospitals last week. Flu can be serious, especially for those at higher risk.

Flu vaccines don’t stop everyone from catching flu, but they do reduce the risk of becoming seriously unwell, needing hospital care or developing complications – especially for older adults and those with health conditions.

Over 18.6 million flu vaccines have been given this season. If you’re eligible and haven’t had yours yet, it’s not too late to get protected.
