Our Veteran’s cheese and wine event on Saturday was a huge success, and a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our veterans whilst marking our success in achieving the Veteran Friendly Framework Award 🥂🧀

We were lucky enough to have a performance by the D-Day Dollies, and even a visit from the mayor!

Whittington House has recently gained Veteran Friendly Framework (VFF) accreditation, marking its commitment to supporting veterans.

We would be delighted if you could join us to celebrate our first VFF event of 2026. A relaxed and social afternoon to honour and thank our veterans, bringing our community together over good cheese, wine and conversation.

A local band called D-Day Dollies will be performing nostalgic and uplifting songs.

To RSVP, please contact our Customer Relations Manager, Sarah Jacka, on 07467 001 928 or by email, sjacka@caringhomes.org

🌟Trusted by Families. Rated by Those Who Know Us Best. 🌟

We’re incredibly proud to share that Caring Homes has once again been named one of the Top 20 Care Home Groups in the UK by carehome.co.uk 🏆

What makes this award so special? It’s based entirely on independent reviews from residents and their families. No judging panels, just real experiences from people who have trusted us with the care of someone they love.

For families searching for care, this recognition offers something truly important:
• Genuine reassurance from those who’ve experienced our care first-hand
• Confidence in the compassion and professionalism of our teams
• Trust in safe, welcoming environments where dignity and respect come first

Choosing care is never just practical, it’s deeply personal. We’re honoured that so many families have shared their positive experiences and helped us achieve this recognition once again. 💜

Thank you to our wonderful residents, families and teams who make this possible every day.

🍽️ Supporting Residents with Dysphagia – With Skill, Care and Creativity

Last week, our Head Chefs came together for an advanced training workshop focused on supporting residents who live with dysphagia (swallowing difficulties). The session was led by Andy Cullum, National Trainer for International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI), giving our chefs the opportunity to further enhance their knowledge and practical skills.

So what does this mean for residents and families?

✔️ Safer dining experiences, reducing the risks associated with swallowing difficulties
✔️ Meals tailored precisely to individual texture needs using the IDDSI framework
✔️ Food that remains nutritious, recognisable and beautifully presented
✔️ Encouraging residents to eat with confidence, pleasure and dignity

From recreating full traditional meals across multiple texture levels to learning how to test consistency accurately, the workshop reinforced how creativity and consistency work hand-in-hand to deliver truly person-centred care.

Because mealtimes should always be something to enjoy 💜
