Thank you for all your messages of support and donations to my fundraiser. You are all so lovely ☺️ lushevents Breakheart Backyard Ultra - what a great community of runners 🥰
However… it was a brutal race! Compounded by all those hills and twists and turns and the heat was immense 🥵
My knees started giving up on lap 6 so by lap 7 I was limping along and fell - not too painful but I knew it was game up! And I need to be able to teach yoga on Monday!!
I managed 7 laps which equals 46.9km - not bad for an old gal 😆

🌞 I ran to the top of Foia Mountain, the highest point in the Algarve on our last day on our yoga holiday. What a beautiful hot morning it was! 🌞
Tomorrow my challenge is my second Backyard Ultra with .lushevents
One lap (4.1 miles/6.7km) every hour on the hour in the fantastic Breakheart Quarry nature reserve. The incline at the end is a killer!
When do you stop? Well, when you can’t run the lap within the set hour!
It is set to be the hottest day of the year in the UK so I’m hoping the heat and the hills in the Algarve serve me well for achieving a PB! 🥵🥵
As always I’m running for in memory of my dad, Ted Rafferty 💙🩵
