We don't brush our teeth daily because anything is wrong we do it because maintenance prevents crisis.

Your dental hygiene habit prevents cavities and gum disease but did you know that your nervous system benefits from a regular routine too?

Real nervous system change doesn’t come from intensity, it comes from consistency.

Tiny cues, repeated daily, slowly reshape the baseline your system returns to.

This may include:

You may be new here and you may not know what Shiatsu is or entails - here's what's involved in this beautiful practise:

✨ Why Shiatsu feels different (and powerful):

It doesn’t rely on force or deep pressure. The touch is gentle, considered, responsive — often so subtle you don’t initially believe anything is “happening,” yet something shifts deeply within.
It works while you remain fully clothed, using supportive holds, stretches, rhythmic pressure, and stillness to coax the body to let go.
Because it works on your energy (often called “Qi” or “Ki”) as well as physical tissues, it can encourage blocked patterns to soften and release.

💫 How shiatsu eases pain — and soothes the emotions too:

Chronic aches, stiffness, tension: by helping release muscular and connective tightness, shiatsu can restore freer movement and reduce pain.
Stress, overwhelm, emotional tension: your nervous system is invited to relax into safety. Emotions you’ve held in your body often melt or shift — not forced, but welcomed to transform.
Supporting you through life transitions: hormone changes, overwhelm in work/life, emotional transitions — shiatsu can act as a reset, a pause, a space of care.

🌿 Your thoughts reshape your body...

Most people think thoughts only influence habits. But they can reshape the body too, down to the fascia, your most intelligent connective network.

Every thought carries a signal. Negative thought loops (fear, shame, worry) activate the sympathetic nervous system, flooding your body with stress hormones.

Over time, this stiffens fascia, dehydrates its water-rich matrix, and locks you into the very patterns your thoughts create.

An inflexible mind leads to an inflexible body.

A person holding onto emotional pain holds a lot of physical pain.

Positive, coherent thoughts, on the other hand, soften fascial tone. They activate the parasympathetic system, restore hydration, and allow bioelectric communication to flow again.

Imaging studies even show that mindfulness can literally reduce fascial tension.

Thoughts are informational currents. They shape fascia’s bioelectric signaling, either creating “noise” that traps you in cycles of stiffness, or coherence that reawakens the body’s intelligence. This is being studied in Quantum biology but I think Chinese medicine and bodywork has always known this and just informed us in its own way.

How shiatsu helps this

Very few of us can self regulate naturally it does take a lot of dedication and for the best outcome needs to happen on a daily basis... but then life is also very busy. Shiatsu interupts the negative patterns in the body and course corrects. The more regularly you have this done the more your body learns what the right patterns are.

I've always been a passionate advocate of having shiatsu regularly as I know just how beneficial it has been for me over the last 20 years. I think I'd be in a pretty poor state if I hadn't found this or another similar therapy.

We have a 5th season of late summer - and it can affect how well your gut is working!

If you feel like things aren't quite right down there or your energy is off kilter it can be that the Earth meridians of Stomach and Spleen are struggling.

Late Summer is the season of Earth and it's a time of the year when things slow down for a major transition.

Earth is a grounding central calming energy that is neither thrusting or contracting; the others whizz around all year long but always come back to this central calming transition.

Whenever the body goes through a change rather than zipping from Wood to Fire it will always contacts and passes through earthiness on its journey and transitional times can affect your gut if it's not strong.

Late summer is drawing to a close in the coming couple of weeks as we transition into Autumn - the metal element and time of letting go.
