Wentworth Court

Wentworth Court Cheltenham's specialist dementia nursing home.

Wentworth Court opened in May 2015 and is the only care home in Cheltenham dedicated to providing dementia nursing care. The experienced and empathetic team offer both long-term residential and nursing care for those who need daily assistance as well as shorter-term respite care. Wentworth Court recognises that every resident has a specific set of individual needs and takes into account each resident’s medical history, as well as their life story, personality, preferences and interests. The attractive home has modern, spacious and light bedrooms, decorated to an extremely high standard and equipped with en-suites. Facilities also include landscaped gardens, a roof terrace, a patisserie café, hairdressing salon, cinema screening space and relaxation and family rooms. The nursing team provides high-quality medical care twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, supported by local partnerships with GPs, opticians, dentists, dieticians, physiotherapists and chiropodists.

So much joy this week celebrating Diwali, the Festival of Light!

Led by housekeeping assistant, Tarla and other team members who celebrate, we dressed in beautiful saris and encouraged residents to join in with the traditional dances. After the dancing, Tarla and colleagues served up some sweet and savoury traditional treats for everyone to enjoy.

⭐️Job Opportunity⭐️

Come and join our award-winning team at Wentworth Court!

We are seeking a friendly and energetic Wellbeing Assistant to help with our ongoing programme of group and individual activities for our residents who live with dementia.

The role is a minimum of 32 hours per week to include alternate weekends on rota.

You may have a background in care, or perhaps you're seeking a new challenge and would like to try something different. Most importantly, you will be a 'people person', empathetic, have initiative and want to make a difference to people's lives. The role is hands-on, so you will enjoy being active - whether your talents lie with arts and crafts, DIY, gardening or even singing and performing!

If you have a full driving licence and would be willing to drive our car and minibus (with training) that's a real plus!

Fancy joining us? Please call in for an application form or call the home on 01242 263334 for more information.

Welcome home Hector! 🦁

We were so happy to see our lion cub return after his summer spent taking part in the Lions At Large Trail. He was joined by his sister lion, Hester and children from Hesters Way Primary School, who took part in a roarsome craft activity before accompanying Hester back to the school!

Lions at Large project manager Carrie Smith popped by to receive the £761 raised through generous donations in our café for the Cheltenham and Gloucester Hospitals Charity.

All aboard for a brilliant boat trip on the Gloucester Sharpness Canal from Saul Junction to Purton and back again! Residents enjoyed the tranquil views with a cuppa and taking turns at the steering wheel.

Many thanks to the The Willow Trust for hosting us and making it a memorable day.

For the past two years, we have been been working in partnership with the
NHS Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board, the University of Gloucestershire, Gloucestershire County Council, Gloucestershire Health & Care NHS Foundation Trust and BAFTA-nominated filmmaker, Kimberley Littlemore to create an innovative series of dementia education training films to support those working in health and social care settings.

Today marked the formal launch of the project at an event attended by more than 60 health and social care professionals, family carers and people living with a dementia.

We are incredibly proud of our team and residents, and the family members who gave consent, so that snippets captured on fixed cameras can be used to support and improve training in dementia care in Gloucestershire and across the UK.

Our general manager Gez was there to talk about why Wentworth Court decided to become involved, along with relatives of some of our residents.

The full set of 10 films will be available to watch by the end of October, when we will share the link!
