Choosing a Memorial Garden 🌿

Purchasing a memorial garden is a deeply personal decision — one that offers families a lasting place to remember, reflect and feel close to their loved one.

When considering a memorial garden, there are a few gentle choices to think about:

🌱 The location – a peaceful spot that feels right for visits, reflection and remembrance
🌸 The size and style – whether simple and discreet or more detailed and personal
🪧 Personalisation – setts and chippings, memorials or plaques, wording for your memorial, symbols, images or designs that reflect a life and personality
🌿 Planting choices – a tree or rose that holds meaning or marks the seasons
🕊️ Visiting preferences – choosing a setting that offers comfort now and for years to come

A memorial garden can become a place to pause, remember and reconnect — somewhere that grows and endures, just like the memories held there.

Our team is always on hand to offer gentle guidance, helping families make choices at their own pace and find a memorial that truly feels right.

Contact Trent Valley Crematorium to learn more about memorial garden options and take the first step towards a meaningful, lasting tribute.

Remembering Beyond the Day 🌿

After a funeral, many families find comfort in having a lasting place of remembrance — somewhere they can return to reflect, remember and feel close to their loved one.

At Trent Valley Crematorium, we offer a range of memorial options to suit different wishes, personalities and traditions, including:

🌸 A bespoke private garden, lovingly created as a unique tribute
🕊️ A communal niche within our Sanctum, offering a shared place of quiet reflection
🌱 A sapling and plaque in our wildflower meadow, symbolising life, growth and continuity
📖 An entry in our Book of Remembrance, preserving a name and message forever
🔒 A lovelock, representing enduring love and connection
🕰️ A plaque on our sundial, marking time and treasured memories
🪑 A plaque on a bench, inviting moments of pause and remembrance

Each option provides a meaningful way to honour a life, in peaceful surroundings that can be visited time and again.

Our team is always here to gently guide families through these choices, helping them find the memorial that feels right.

Every Farewell Is Unique 💙

When a family arranges a funeral for cremation, they’re faced with many personal choices — and there’s no such thing as a right or wrong way.

From selecting music or readings, to deciding whether the service is religious, spiritual or completely personal; from a quiet, simple gathering to a more celebratory farewell — each decision reflects a life lived and the people who loved them.

Families may need to choose:

• The type and length of the service (Direct Cremation, Full Service, Small Intimate service)
• Music choices, personal eulogies or visual tributes
• Who will lead or speak during the service - Minister, Celebrant or family member.
• Final resting options for ashes

These choices can feel overwhelming at a difficult time. Taking things one step at a time — and knowing that experienced staff handling your arrangements are there to guide and support — can help bring reassurance and comfort.

Above all, a funeral is a moment of remembrance, love and respect. Whatever form it takes, what matters most is that it feels right for the family and truly honours the person being remembered. 💙

Its helpful to understand what options are available for memorials at Trent valley Crematorium.

As well as options for below ground interment of ashes we also offer above‑ground interment options for families.

💛Accessible and dignified – Ashes are interred above ground, making memorials easy to visit and suitable for those who prefer not to visit burial plots.
🌞Weather‑resilient memorials – Structures such as niches or vaults are designed to protect ashes from ground conditions.
🕊Personal memorialisation – Memorial plaques and inscriptions allow families to create a meaningful, lasting tribute.
🌳Different from traditional ashes interment (below ground) – Some families prefer the symbolism of earth burial, which this option does not provide.

Our Panorama Sanctum located in our Jubilee memorial garden is a communal space and provides a cost effective option for above ground ashes interment. We can also offer Individual sanctums that can be placed within a private garden, with a choice of setts, chippings and tree of your choice.

Every family’s wishes are unique. Our team is always available to explain options, answer questions, and help you choose what feels right for you and your loved ones.

🌿 Wildlife at Trent Valley Crematorium 🌿

At Trent Valley Crematorium, the peaceful surroundings are shared with an incredible variety of wildlife, making the grounds a true haven for nature.

Our Chapel Pond is home to beautiful Koi Carp, gliding calmly beneath the water’s surface, while overhead you may spot buzzards and other birds of prey soaring gracefully above the landscape.

Closer to the ground, ducks wander the water’s edge, hares can often be seen darting across open spaces, and pheasants add a splash of colour to our grounds. We’re also proud to care for our resident bees, playing an important role in supporting local biodiversity.

These gentle encounters with nature help create a place of reflection, calm, and connection — where wildlife and people coexist in quiet harmony. 🐝🦅🐟
