It is with great sadness that we heard news of the tragic death of a young man in an accident over the weekend within our local community.
On behalf of everyone at Derwent Valley Medical Practice, we would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and cared for him.
News like this can be deeply upsetting and may affect people in different ways. Many in our community may be experiencing feelings of sadness, shock, or disbelief, and we recognise how difficult this time may be.
We would like to remind our patients that support is available. If you are struggling or feel you would benefit from speaking to someone, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Our team is here to listen and to help where we can.
For families, it may be helpful to have open and supportive conversations with children and young people, reassuring them that it is okay to talk about their feelings. Additional support can also be found through organisations such as Winston’s Wish, Child Bereavement UK, and Cruse Bereavement Support.
At times like this, the strength of a community lies in compassion and kindness. We encourage everyone to look out for one another and keep the young man’s loved ones in their thoughts during this incredibly difficult time.
