Manorfields Care Home Manorfields is situated less than a ten-minute bus ride away from Derby city centre.

It has offered local people high quality care and accommodation since it opened in 1971, and can now offer warm and attractive surroundings for up to forty residents.

Happy Birthday x 2!!

There are double Birthday celebrations at Manorfields today.
Two of our lovely residents have been celebrating their special day at the same time. Francis has reached the milestone of his 90th year, and Josephine has turned 85. Here are some pictures of fabulous Birthday cakes being enjoyed. Happy Birthday to both of our wonderful residents.

Looking back.....

Last weekend, residents at Manorfields spent an enjoyable session looking back at some of the things they remember from the past. Looking through the memory boxes inspired some great stories, lots of laughs, and took everyone back in time. In particular some of the products they used to use jogged some vivid memories. A lovely activity and one thoroughly enjoyed by all who took part.

Happy Birthday Rita!

Here is a picture of our lovely new resident Rita enjoying her 83rd Birthday with her family. It was great to see everyone come together and celebrate. Rita received lots of cards and presents, and to top it all off she got a yummy chocolate cake - which needless to say didn't last long!

Rita would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to everyone who made her day special. Here's to 84!

A twist on the traditional….

At Manorfields we like to do things a little differently. Which is why instead of a straightforward Mother’s Day, we include our lovely gentleman residents and make it a Ladies and Gents Day.

Everyone was treated to a lovely tea and lots of pampering as well as having their photos taken in our special floral frame.

Of course there were lots of Mother’s Day cards and presents as well…..so our Mums were all well looked after.

Feeding the ducks…..

Here are some lovely pictures of one of our Manorfields residents enjoying the sunshine and feeding the ducks in our local park.

Trips out are so important for our residents wellbeing and we try and encourage as many people as possible to take part on a regular basis. The ducks were certainly very appreciative, and although it looked a little threatening the swan did actually keep its distance.

Games galore….

Our lovely residents at Manorfields showed their competitive spirit this week when they had a games session at the home. There was some very keen playing of Snakes and Ladders, with everyone keen to win.

Of course those pesky snakes frequently put a spanner in the works for some of our players. Great fun for all and good for interaction and concentration skills.

Anniversary presents…

One of our lovely residents had a surprise this week when she received a fantastic bunch of roses and a cuddly toy to celebrate her anniversary.

The flowers not only looked beautiful but smelt wonderful, and delighted not only the recipient but everyone in the home. Here’s hoping there are more occasions for flowers coming our way soon.

It’s that day again!……

Yes it’s Shrove Tuesday and that means pancakes all round for our lovely residents here at Manorfields. I’m sure people will enjoy helping to mix the batter and our kitchen team are ready with a delicious choice of toppings for everyone to choose from.

What’s your favourite topping….so far our residents favourite appears to be the classic lemon juice and sugar, although chocolate spread is also popular!

Feeding The Ducks….

There were a couple of rather popular people at Alvaston Park recently, as two of our lovely ladies from Manorfields enjoyed a morning trip out to feed the ducks! They were very quickly joined by a large gathering as they handed out bits of bread for all of their new friends to enjoy.

It was a lovely day out, wrapped up nicely as we stopped for a refreshing and needed hot drink, along with a bit of cake of course!
