💬 Helping Your Child Socialise with SEND Needs💬
For many children with SEND, socialising can feel overwhelming, confusing, or even exhausting. But with the right support, they can build meaningful connections in a way that feels safe and comfortable for them 💙
Here are a few simple ways you can help:
✨ Start small
One-to-one play or short, structured interactions can feel much more manageable than large groups.
✨ Follow their interests
Children connect more easily when it’s around something they love—whether that’s crafts, movement, or a shared hobby.
✨ Prepare them in advance
Talking through what to expect (who will be there, what might happen) can reduce anxiety and build confidence.
✨ Focus on skills, not pressure
Turn-taking, sharing, and communication all take time to develop—celebrate the small wins.
✨ Create safe opportunities
Inclusive, understanding environments make all the difference. When children feel accepted, they’re more likely to engage and be themselves.
💙 Every child socialises differently—and that’s okay. The goal isn’t to change who they are, but to support them in building connections in a way that works for them.
At SEN Fit CIC, we create supportive spaces where children can develop social skills naturally through play, movement, and shared experiences. From our PlayFit and Holiday Clubs to our Weekly Tea Time Clubs, Supporting Children with SEND build connections is what we love to do💕
