Over the Spring, I will be piloting a coaching programme for parents called, 'Nurturing Connection'. It is aimed at the parents of primary-aged children.

It is a group coaching programme focused on supporting parents in helping their child to develop age-appropriate emotional self-regulation skills.

I will be providing the material around which I'll be facilitating a coaching conversation, so not providing answers - helping participants support each other in finding answers.

I'm offering up to 8 completely free places on a first come, first served basis. I just need you to be committed to a six session process (meeting online every 2-3 weeks for 90 mins).

You will in turn be helping me fine tune what I hope will be a programme that helps many families.

Please feel free to share the offer!

The practice of mindfulness is hugely beneficial for Mums of all ages & stages!

Mindfulness is a mental state and practice that involves paying purposeful, non-judgmental attention to the present moment.

It involves being fully engaged with your thoughts, emotions, sensations, and surroundings without becoming overly reactive or overwhelmed by them.

Mindfulness encourages you to observe your experiences with an open and accepting attitude, fostering self-awareness and promoting a sense of calm and clarity.

For mothers, the practice of mindfulness can have several significant benefits. Follow us to receive our mindfulness tips on a daily basis.

It's never too soon or too late to start!

Although my twin girls of 13 are mostly responsible, there are many times I struggle to know how I should speak into issues which don't align with our family values - things like how much they engage with social media and when they complete their homework.

Nagging doesn't seem to get me very far, neither does it support their well-being or mine. Parent coaching strategies provide a way of addressing these issues in a calm & authentic way, but also fosters a healthy sense of independence & facilitates personal development.

Becoming a parent coach, helped Kathy negotiate the early teenage years with her twin daughters, but also empowered her to help many other parents.

We have a FREE online training coming up in a few weeks for those who have an interest in learning coaching skills for parenting.

It will run one evening per week for 90 minutes. The course is 12 weeks.

All that we ask is that you commit to using the strategies you learn in your own family, but also find a few other parents you can practise on!

There may be ongoing work opportunities for those who show potential.

Interested? Send us a message to book an interview for one of the very limited spots on this training.

Empowering Families and Building Stronger Communities: Action4Families CIC's Mission

At the heart of every thriving community lies the strength and unity of its families. Recognizing the pivotal role that families play in shaping the well-being of individuals and the collective, Action4Families Community Interest Company (CIC) has embarked on a transformative mission to empower families and foster stronger, more resilient communities.

Our Mission: Connecting, Empowering, and Transforming

Action4Families CIC is driven by a clear and compelling mission: to connect, empower, and transform the lives of families, creating a ripple effect of positive change across communities. This mission is rooted in the belief that by providing families with the resources, support, and opportunities they need, we can create a brighter future for individuals and society as a whole.

1. Connecting Families: In an increasingly fast-paced and digitally connected world, the importance of genuine human connection cannot be overstated. Action4Families CIC serves as a bridge, bringing families together in supportive networks where they can share experiences, challenges, and triumphs. By facilitating meaningful connections, we aim to combat isolation and foster a sense of belonging that strengthens family bonds.

2. Empowering Families: Empowerment lies at the core of our mission. We strive to equip families with the knowledge, skills, and tools they need to navigate life's challenges and opportunities successfully. Through workshops, educational programs, and skill-building initiatives, we help families enhance their parenting skills, financial literacy, health and wellness practices, and more.

3. Transforming Communities: The impact of empowered families extends far beyond the household. Action4Families CIC recognizes that when families thrive, communities flourish. By nurturing the potential within each family, we contribute to the creation of safer, more inclusive, and dynamic communities. This transformation takes shape as families become active contributors to local initiatives, volunteering, and supporting others in need.

Our Values: Collaboration, Inclusivity, and Empathy

At Action4Families CIC, our values serve as the compass guiding our every action:

Collaboration: We believe that collaboration is the cornerstone of meaningful change. By working together with families, community partners, and organizations, we harness collective strengths to achieve lasting impact.

Inclusivity: We are committed to embracing diversity and fostering an environment where every family feels welcome and valued. Our programs are designed to cater to families from all backgrounds, ensuring equal access to resources and opportunities.

Empathy: We approach our mission with empathy and a deep understanding of the challenges families face. This empathy allows us to tailor our programs to meet the unique needs of each family, ensuring that our support is relevant and effective.

Join Us in Making a Difference

Action4Families CIC's mission is not a solo endeavor—it's a collective effort that relies on the participation and support of individuals, families, and communities. Whether you're a parent seeking guidance, a community leader looking to collaborate, or someone passionate about making a positive impact, we invite you to join us on this journey.

Together, we can create a world where families are empowered, communities are strengthened, and the ripple effects of positive change extend far beyond our wildest dreams. Action4Families CIC is here to serve as a catalyst for this transformation, and we're excited to welcome you aboard.

Small children have very limited ways of expressing emotion - when your baby cries, what are they trying to tell you? I'm sad? I'm tired? I'm scared? I'm angry? All parents will have experienced times that they really don't know.

One thing is certain, however, they do not have the ability to manage the feelings they are experiencing and need the help of a responsive caregiver to help them restore their emotional balance. Known as emotional regulation, this has strong links to physical & mental health, academic performance and socioeconomic success.

What's your reaction when your child cries? Before an adult can offer a calming response, known as coregulation, it's necessary to self-regulate. You maybe keenly aware that you are being triggered, with persistent crying producing 'big feelings' in you!

Acknowledging those feelings is a very important first step, followed by offering yourself a compassionate response before 'coaching' yourself to a place of calm, using mindfulness & positive self-talk. All in a matter of moments!

As a caregiver of a small child, having a group of supportive friends, who can support you during this phase of parenting is important. A parent coach can also be of assistance.

Here at Action4Families CIC, we offer individual & group coaching sessions, in addition to support groups, with the aim of ensuring that parents of young children have the support to be the responsive, self-regulated parent that can optimally serve their child's development.

Interested? Please get in touch! We can help to set up in-person and online sessions connecting you with the support you need.

The foundation for sound mental health is built early in life, as early experiences shape the architecture of the developing brain.

These early experiences include children's relationships with parents, caregivers, relatives, teachers & peers - all of which play a critical role in shaping social, emotional and cognitive development.

That's why we place importance on supporting parents, caregivers and schools in developing nurturing environments, in addition to promoting early interventions for children, with emotional or behavioural problems.
