💥 Starting on Saturday the 11th of March at 10 am, Giles (Our Recovery Guru) from the BBA Performance Hub will be leading a 5 week course to bombproof your joints through clinical testing, mobility and strengthening exercises.

🧘‍♀️ Each week the group will focus on a joint and evaluate its Range of Motion (ROM). You will learn which muscles are utilised and how to mobilise them. You will then implement accompanying S&C exercises to help bulletproof your body to help prevent injury from happening in the future, as well as improving your athletic performance.

Great read! Probably not for everyone! But for those with poor ankle mobility and have trouble squatting to depth or running issues in the foot or ankle this is for you.

The gist is poor big toe flexability through the FHL decreases ankle dorsiflexion and in turn poor movement patterns of the limb.

No adage is more relevant to an age group veteran master to increasing performance than ‘train smarter not harder’. For 99% of us, gone are the days of swanning up to a comp, smashing it out, then running or cycling home for a brew. How can athletes increase performance when they hit that half-c...

While it’s easy to put the blame on the athlete for pushing through bad technique for the sake of ego, the coach is the person who ultimately should keep things in check. Will every lift be perfect? No. Especially when lifting max weights, technique faults happen. However, it is the job of the coach to know when the lift quality has slipped from “acceptable” to “poor” and the athlete needs to take a step back. Remember, when you value how well someone moves, the weight will follow. It’s “move well 1st, then move big weight” not the other way around.
As & explain, athletes want to please their coach & if they are not corrected when technique problems occur, they won’t know any better. It’s the job of the coach to lead & teach.
If you’re an athlete with a good coach, tag 🏷 them in the comments below and say thank you for the work they do.👇🏼
If you’re a coach who knows another that needs this reminder - tag them as well. Let’s change the 🌎.

Did a test in the new year, it highlighted some issues, such as high cholesterol and high SHBG which impacts free testosterone. I have introduced Omega+D3 to my diet along with both have made a massive difference to my overall fitness which I wasn’t expecting. I am beginning to understand “get out what you put in”

Do you struggle with “butt wink” when squatting? First check out my full YouTube video where I talk about both of these factors called “The ultimate guide to butt wink” then read below.
Ankle mobility: the more the knees can go past the toes (more ankle mobility) the less compensation you’ll see at the hips/low back in the bottom of a deep squat.
Stance width: depending on your hip anatomy, most people will find that changing stance width will either make butt wink worse or make it less prominent. For example, I use a more narrow stance to squat deep. If I use a wider stance I will hit the end range of my hip sockets just under parallel. If I try to push lower, my back would round in competition (aka butt wink). Others however may find the opposite and need a Slightly wider stance. Understanding your anatomy is an important part of finding the most optimal technique for your body.
Key takeaway: when lifting we want to limit excessive movement of the low back. Butt wink describes the movement that places stress on very isolated joints of the low back. The more movement & the more load that takes place here OVER TIME leads to an increased risk of injury for some. So ideally we want to try To minimize how much movement occurs here when lifting in order to optimize the resiliency of the spine.
Please refer to my longer YouTube video on the topic as I can give a lot more context & details on this topic.
