Mind Your Step Jamie Margetts - Jamie set up Clear Environmental Consultants in 2003, with two business partners, Andrew Clements and David De Rosa.

Mind Your Step is a charity event set up in memory of Jamie Margetts who sadly lost his battle against a long term mental health illness in October 2016, at the age of 41 years old. After very successful events over the past four years, and helping to raise over £50,000 for MIND, we are very excited to announce that we will again be returning for 2022. Clear was an environmental consultancy business specialising in Hydraulic Modelling and Jamie was a big driving force behind the successful growth of the business to 90 staff by the time the business was bought by the RPS Group in 2014. Jamie was the public face of the Clear business; he was excellent at standing in front of his peers giving technical presentations, clearly demonstrating his knowledge and love for the industry. Through his hard work and dedication, he became a figurehead within the world of urban drainage, someone that many of us within RPS and across the urban drainage industry respected and looked up to. Jamie set an inspirational example of a leader that goes above and beyond to achieve their goals with an insuppressible work ethic, which was always switched on. He inspired the next generation of drainage professionals to ‘get involved’ by setting up a junior UDG committee and encouraged junior staff members within RPS to present at conferences, take on more responsibility and to take pride in the quality of their work. Mind Your Step has been established to remember Jamie; all the lessons he taught us, all the memories we shared with him and the legacy he left behind. We’d love anyone who knew him to help support us in these events and to raise some money for a great charity.

Get your diaries out and your walking shoes on because Mind Your Step is back for 2025!
There will be 2 events this year in different locations, with the event centred on Sheffield and Derby taking place on Saturday 9th August, and the East Sussex event taking place on Saturday 19th July!

The Derby/Sheffield event consists of a 10 mile walk around Carsington Water, with an option for a further 8 miles for those really craving the challenge! Meanwhile the East Sussex Event will be tackling the same route as last year – a superb 16-mile trek across East Sussex!

Entry will cost £25 per person for a ticket, with food provided at the end of the walks for those taking part or volunteering.

Registration is now open! So please use the links below to sign up and take part either as a volunteer or a participant. Exact timings and addresses are detailed in the sign-up forms so please do check them out!

Tomorrow is the day of our Sheffield MYS event! 🚶‍♀️🥾

We have 41 people walking the Sheffield Round Walk, supported by nine volunteers.

Mind Your Step Charity Update

Following on from the success of our Scotland team's "Mind Your Step" event, we're excited for what's next! They cycled an impressive 80km from Edinburgh to Glasgow and raised over £550 for SAMH. 🎉

Now, it's time for our Sheffield and Brighton teams to step up their training! With just over 2 months to go, registration is open for our upcoming charity walks. Each team will be taking part in a walk to support MIND, and we invite everyone to join in!

Whether you're RPS staff, a friend, family member, client, or colleague, we welcome you to participate! Let's make a difference together, reach out to our teams for more details!
