131 local Healthwatch services have signed an open letter urging the government to protect independent public voice in healthcare. A parliamentary petition is open to support this cause.

We are asking the government to: • Revisit its decision to abolish local independent services that speak up for the public • Consult with the public to codesign a service which meets their needs and supports the NHS to realise its ambitions • Invest in and strengthen independent services

Yesterday marked the start of UK Disability History Month (16th Nov - 20th Dec).

Disabled people around the world have faced persecution across generations, treated as second class or less than citizens. This has led to many different pressures that cut short lives.

The disabled community contribute meaningfully to society and are just as valuable as able bodied people, this should never be forgotten and the mistakes of the past must be learned from.
