Looking forward to the next one.

After a successful launch, the next session will be held at the slightly later time of 18:30, allowing time to arrive after work. At the launch, we talked about some of the things we wanted to explore. We will start with exploring dual relationships.

Please book on if you want to come along and join us.

This is upsetting news. I am studying for my PhD at the University of Derby, and removing the course does not feel supportive of my journey.

As a deaf student, London was too far to travel from the Midlands, too stressful and inaccessible to me, not to mention inconvenient and costly.

Without the course at Derby, I would not be doing the important work that I am doing now. Losing this course would be very short-sighted of the university when Creativity in health is gaining traction.

The course also serves the community of Derby and Derbyshire; many placements have benefited from DMP students in training, as have many individuals. For many smaller organisations, training courses like this are crucial to their survival.

Community mental health and well-being should be supported by the University.

If you have benefited from DMP as a placement or individual, please add your voice and contact the University and let them know.

I have space for supervisees and students seeking therapy while they are training based in Derby city.

I also support people who are affected by brain injury. ABI and stroke survivors, family members or joint sessions. Any age group, from children and young people to elderly.

No dance knowledge is needed, just a willingness to be curious and explore your lived expereince through your body. What do you feel? What does this mean to you?

DMP is particularly helpful with non-verbal communication or when words cannot express experience, enough.

Sessions are accessible and inclusive, wheelchair users, mobility device users are also welcome.

Organisational and self- referrals taken.

Relational work is what we do as Dance Movement Therapists.

But what does relational mean?

This Mental Health Awareness Week focuses on community. What is community? How do we connect with community?

For me, I connect through dance. I joined dance groups with similar interests to mine. I get to meet people through movement, but I don't always have to speak; I just have presence and move together.

Hope:- What is the role of hope in psychotherapy?

In my reflections today, I am curious about hope, what it is, why it is, how it is and where it is?

Does it make a difference to therapy outcomes?

Who holds hope, the therapist or the person seeking support?

What is the intersubjectivity of hope?

In brain injury, I often feel hope in the relationships between therapist and therapee. Hope in families hope in brain injury communities.

What is hope?

"Hope is the dream of a waking man." - Aristotle

"To live without hope is to cease to live." - Fyodor Dostoevsky

"Where there's hope, there's life." - Anne Frank

"At the end of the day, we must go forward with hope and not backward by fear and division." - Jesse Jackson

"Let your hopes, not your hurts, shape your future."
- Robert H. Schuller

"Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness." - Desmond Tutu

There are many more famous 'hope' quotes. Which ones resonate with you?

Hope exists in all walks of life, how is adversity overcome? Does hope allow change?
