Last few weeks of Melbourne Bump to Babies đź’ś
We’re sad to say that our Melbourne Bump to Babies group will be coming to an end this March. We were fortunate to receive funding to set up and run Melbourne Bump to Babies group as a pilot group for one year. This funding for this has now come to an end, so we’ve had to make the difficult decision to close the group, and the last group will be on Friday 27th March.

Thank you so much to all the mums, dads, grandparents, friends and family who came to the group – we have loved getting to know you and your babies. A huge thanks to our amazing volunteers who ran the group each week. And a massive thanks to Melbourne Sporting Partnership for hosting us every week. You have all contributed to strengthening the perinatal support in the community.

Our other Bump to Babies groups, Dads’ Space and Tea and Tots continue to run across Derby city, as well as our 1-1 support for mums, dads and partners in pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period, as well as our peer support at Derby Hospital.

Please get in touch if you have questions, or see www.connectedperinatalsupport.org

Sign Language Week starts today (16 March) and runs until Sunday 22 March. The theme for 2026 is “United in Sign”, a celebration of unity, pride, and collective action around sign languages. To recognise this important week, Team DHCFT colleagues took park in Basic British Sign Language (BSL) Training which was kindly provided by our friends from the British Deaf Association (BDA).

Last year the Trust co-created a new Focus Group with Deaf representatives from across the city and county. This collaboration is already proving valuable, with areas such as workforce opportunities for Deaf people and an increase in Deaf information on the Trust website being explored. Thank you to all Deaf colleagues and partners who are supporting with this work.

Here’s a gentle reminder this Mother’s Day: you are not alone. 💛

If you live in Derbyshire, are further than 12 weeks pregnant or have given birth within the past 2 years, are registered with a Derbyshire GP and you have experienced changes in your mood or increase in anxiety, you can self-refer to the Perinatal Service for an appointment to discuss how you are feeling and identify what support you need going forward. This might be the first time you are feeling this way, or you may have felt this way before. You are not alone.

As we approach Mother’s Day, Lizzy’s story is a powerful reminder of just how vital Mother and Baby Units are. Her journey is also a testament to the compassionate and specialist care she received at our own MBU, The Beeches. 💛
