Independent Opticians in Oakwood, Derby since 1994! Tom and Liz have been examining eyes in Oakwood since they opened the practice in 1994.

Their experience over this time has helped develop a unique optical experience. Seven of the present Oakwood staff have worked here over ten years. New members have started with us in 2016 and the fresh ideas they bring are helping us think about what we can do for our patients. All staff take part in ongoing training and development. They aim to deliver great customer service in a friendly environment where you are the priority.

Today is the start of Contact Lens Health Week.
So a perfect time for a little reminder-
👀Wash hands thoroughly before handling your contact lenses
👀Never sleep in your lenses unless you have been advised it's safe to do so
👀Don't expose lenses to water-no tap water/showers/swimming etc
👀Use fresh solution every time, and change your case when you change your lenses
👀Don't over wear your lenses and change them when it's recommended to do so

She has grown with us and is an integral part of our business. She has shown us-and all of you-her professionalism, knowledge and hard work as well as being upbeat and always smiling! We are so proud of her!

Eyes on the ball, brought it all!

⚽️ England’s hero was once told she might never play sport.
As a baby, Hannah was diagnosed with , a condition where the eyes are misaligned and point in different directions. She had three surgeries by the age of three to help correct it. Now? She’s England’s number 1. Two saved penalties. One unforgettable final 🏆

Strabismus affects around 2–3% of children. If left untreated, it can lead to amblyopia (lazy eye) and loss of stereo depth perception, the ability to judge depth at close range.

Let's see if we can top the Wimbledon jargon post--

We will solve all your eyewear needs, whether it's everyday eyewear or sport eyewear.

Firstly we can DIVE into an in-depth eye examination. The FIRST HALF is where we SHOOT an image of the back of your eye using our Optomap and OCT machine. We will then FORWARD this on to the Optician who will then perform the SECOND HALF of the test.
Then they PASS you over to one of our dispensing opticians who will be your biggest SUPPORTERS. They can show you the LINES of frames on offer and discuss the sports eyewear options, they will REFEREE the frames on offer and will say which suit you and are best for your vision needs. We will leap to our STRIKING products DEFENCE, But we promise you will never be left in a CORNER in our practice, you become part of the TEAM and we will always be your biggest FANS. We promise to never drop the BALL.

So our very warm and sunny Summer of Sport is nearly at an end😢

But we have one last product to shout about!
And that's Sports Goggles!

They are eyewear specifically designed for sport. Impact resistant, toughened lenses, tintable-and that's just to name a few. We have them in 4 different sizes so all ages are catered for, and the sides can even be swapped for bands if you find them more comfortable.
