Yesterday I found out I had Generalised Anxiety Disorder. It hit me hard because I’ve always considered myself to be mentally strong and loved going out on my own and meeting people. Now when I look back over the past few years I realise I’ve shied away from socialising and going out in my wheelchair. Not to mention the overwhelming anxiety I get with not being able to provide for or protect my family the way I consider a father and husband should. All of this is a hidden consequence of my disability and something I’d never considered. I guess it’ll take some time to get my head round it but you can find out a bit more about GAD here.
It really is worth talking to someone if you think you might be suffering with this or any other metal health condition.
