VE Day at Springwood 🇬🇧❤️

Today we celebrated with a traditional wartime-inspired menu of corned beef pie, mash, cabbage and carrots for lunch, followed by peaches and evaporated milk for pudding.

This afternoon we enjoyed entertainment from the Golden Girls, singing wartime classics, before finishing the day with a traditional ploughman’s tea, trifle, and this wonderful patriotic sponge cake baked by our talented cook Pauline. 👩‍🍳🍰

A lovely day of music, memories and celebration together. 🇬🇧

Today was all about Christine as we celebrated her birthday with cake, cake and more cake! 🎂💛

This morning we all celebrated with a gorgeous Victoria sponge baked by our wonderful cook Pauline. 👩‍🍳🍰

We were also lucky enough to have four generations together this morning, as Chris’s daughter, granddaughter and 6-week-old great granddaughter joined us for the celebrations. 👶💛

This afternoon, Christine’s book club held their meeting at Springwood and enjoyed delicious Birds cream cakes to celebrate.

A lovely day spent with friends, books and plenty of sweet treats!

We have a new interactive touchscreen system at Springwood — and it’s already a big hit! 🌿🌍

As it’s RHS Garden Week, we used it to take a virtual tour of RHS Garden Wisley. It was wonderful — we felt like we were walking through the beautiful gardens, listening to the sounds of nature 🌺

Judith and Hilary then used it, with the help of our Activities Coordinator Gemma, to explore places they had lived using Google Earth — such a lovely and meaningful experience.

We’ve also been having fun trying out the games — as you can see! 🎮

We can’t wait to explore even more 🌍

We had our second visit from Corinna today, and to say we love her sessions would be an understatement! 💃

There were smiles all around as residents enjoyed moving, singing along and having fun together 🎶

From Dolly Parton to the Bee Gees, Corinna had everyone jiving in their seats!

A fantastic, feel-good session that brought lots of laughter to the home 🏡❤️

Today we celebrated St George’s Day at Springwood — with food… and then more food! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Our cook whipped up a fantastically English menu: Toad in the Hole followed by apple crumble and custard 🍏

This evening we enjoyed a traditional English ploughman’s, followed by a choice of trifle or Victoria sponge 🍰

All homemade, of course. 👩‍🍳

A huge well done to our wonderful kitchen team who work so hard every day to provide delicious, high-quality meals for our residents.

A lovely way to celebrate at Springwood this week ☕👑🇬🇧

Yesterday, residents enjoyed National Tea Day with a variety of English teas and delicious scones ☕️

We also marked what would have been the late Queen’s 100th birthday by watching a BBC documentary on her coronation, which brought back lots of lovely memories for everyone 👑🇬🇧

A wonderful afternoon of tea, reflection and shared memories 💛
