A big thank you to Health Advisor Fay and Clinical Advisor Chelsea for talking about their NHS 111 roles with us for BBC Radio Derby this afternoon.

If you've ever called 111 in the Midlands, you will have spoken to a DHU Health or Clinical Advisor, both of whom give the help and advice you need to can get the right treatment at the right place for you.

Hopefully you'll hear them this Thursday on the BBC Radio Derby mid-morning show to help understand the part they play with us, looking after you.

We can share more from the visit of Chesterfield MP Toby Perkins to our Urgent Treatment Centre in Chesterfield last Friday.

He visited the unit, based alongside Chesterfield Royal Hospital's Emergncy Department to see how our people look after patients, what conditions they can treat, how we work alongside other health providers and how people can access the UTC.

Our UTC is there for urgent conditions that are not an emergency or a threat to life, things like a suspected broken bone, sprain, minor bleed or scold, infections, rashes, high temperature or stomach pain. This leaves A&E colleagues more time to prioritise and treat emergency patients.

You can read more about the visit, including comment from our Clinical Service Lead Rachel Revill, by following this link...

NHS services across the country and experiencing heavy demand so we're asking you to think about where to get the help you need.

You don't necessarily need A&E... you can visit your GP, an Urgent Treatment Centre, call 111, access 111 online, use the NHS App or like Chris in the video below, your local pharmacist.

Think about who can help you with your health concern and the health service can work more efficiently for you...

We were delighted to welcome Chesterfield MP Toby Perkins to our Chesterfield UTC, based at Chesterfield Royal Hospital.

The team look after patients who need urgent rather than emergency treatment, generally seeing between 50 and 60 patients per day, many of whom visit the Royal's Emergency Department. The UTC team can treat these patients outside of ED, allowing them to treat genuine emergencies more effectively.

We've shared some photos below featuring Mr Perkins with our our Chief Operating Officer Paul Tilson, DHU Director of UEC UTCs Reiss Bond and Non-Executive Director Gillian Adams.

We'll be sharing more details and comment next week, if you want to know more about UTCs in general and how they can help you, follow this NHS link:

With health services in high demand, remember that some minor conditions and injuries can be treated at home with a well stocked medicine cabinet.

Cold and flu symptoms, minor cuts, bruises, headaches, sore throats and coughs can be treated with over the counter remedies that you can keep in a first aid kit.

We've had the national BBC team at Loughborough Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) last week, filming a piece about what a UTC is and how we can help you.

It'll be part of a wider piece following three parts of the Leicestershire health system, due to be aired later this week - we'll let you know when it's on.

For now, if you want to know more about a UTC, when to use it and how your nearest one might be able to help you, this NHS page will help you...
