It was lovely to see the sun shining this morning as we spent some time alongside Friends of Nottingham Road Cemetery - Derby to welcome the local community to the Nottingham Road Cemetery Open Day. Thank you to all who spoke with us and supported the event 🩶

Ruth and Bethany have recently been volunteering at Nottingham Road Cemetery to help with the maintenance of the graves and surrounding areas. Yesterday Bethany helped to tidy the areas that will be specifically spoken about at their Open Day tomorrow 🩶

Ruth and Joanna will be attending the event tomorrow from 10.00am - 1.00pm and there will be the opportunity to win a beautiful door wreath from Jo Beth Floral Design with all proceeds going to YoungMinds. Please come along and say hello! 🌷

Team Simnett 100 Miles in May 🏃

Follow us throughout May as we come together as a team to walk, run, swim and ride (horses!) 100 miles each, across the month.

Borrowash & District Funeral Service ran and operated by funeral director James Highton, opened its doors in October 2025. We are delighted to announce that it has now become a part of the George Simnett Group, making it a sister company to George Simnett Family Funeral Directors.

Funeral Director James will continue to care for families at Borrowash & District Funeral Service and guide you every step of the way, whilst also working alongside Simnett’s.

We will soon be inviting you to our Open Day to give you chance to see the funeral home and speak with James. If you are passing and wish to visit beforehand, you are welcome to do so. The branch is open 9.30am - 4.00pm, Monday - Friday.
Please note, if James isn’t in the branch during these times, he may be caring for a family within the community.
Please call 01332 957800 and we will endeavour to have a member of staff attend the branch as soon as possible 🩶

Last week Finlay was able to spend some time with Friends of Aston Brickyard Plantation. She very much enjoyed her time creating dead hedging lines. We’ll be back again in May to learn new conservation skills. Thank you to all who kindly welcoming Finlay to the group.
