📚✨ World Book Day Magic at Enderby Medical Centre! ✨📚

Today, the team at Enderby Medical Centre stepped straight out of the pages of their favourite books — and what a sight it was! From Mr Bean to whimsical characters, everyone embraced the fun, and we’re sure you’ll agree they all looked absolutely fantastic!

A huge thank‑you to everyone who joined in. Each person made a donation, which will be added to the total we’re proudly raising for LOROS Hospice 💛

Brilliant effort, team — bringing smiles, colour, and kindness to World Book Day!

If you wish to donate to this fantastic cause you can do so on our just giving page - https://www.justgiving.com/page/enderby-medical-centre-1

🎉 Huge congratulations to Elizabeth Harcourt! 🎉

Elizabeth is the winner of our Guess the Number of Sweets in the Jar competition — and she was incredibly close with her guess of 180 when the actual total was 179! 👏🍬

Thank you to everyone who took part.

Every penny raised is being proudly donated to LOROS Hospice

FUNDRAISING FOR LOROS.

Over the next year Enderby Medical Centre have decided to raise money for LOROS Hospice.

We will be doing various activities throughout the year which staff will donate money to take part in. There will also be activities for patients to get involved in if they wish to.

Next week will be our first two activities! On Monday, we will be doing a guess the number of sweets in the jar game, which will run throughout February. This will be £1 a guess. A small prize will be given to the person whose guess is closest to the actual number.

On Friday 13th we are encouraging all our staff to wear something pink or red and make a donation to LOROS Hospice for doing this.

As part of our fundraising for LOROS Hospice, we’re running a fun ‘Guess the Number of Sweets in the Jar’ challenge throughout February! 🍬

If you’d like to take part, just pop into the surgery, jot down your guess, and drop it in the box.

It’s £1 per entry, and every penny raised goes directly to supporting LOROS.

Reminder that the practice is closed today from 1pm. We will re-open tomorrow morning at 8am.

We wanted to provided you a further update regarding status of the planning application for the proposed new premises for Enderby Medical Centre.

In the past few days, we received a formal notice from BDC regarding a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) on what appear to be ash trees. See below copy of the letter received and the response we have sent to the planning department at Blaby District Council. We would be grateful for our patients to provide any comments they may have to planning@blaby.gov.uk or charlene.hurd@blaby.gov.uk

World Osteoporosis Day, 20th October

Osteoporosis affects over 500 million people worldwide yet it remains severely underdiagnosed and undertreated – especially among those who have already sustained fragility fractures. Now is the time to ‘Take Action on Bones’. Look out for the signs, and if you’re concerned, do ask your doctor. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/osteoporosis/

If you have osteoporosis, treatments can include medication to strengthen your bones. You can also help to manage your condition with lifestyle changes such as regular exercise, including weight-bearing and muscle-strengthening activities, along with a diet rich in calcium and vitamin D or supplements, and avoiding smoking and excessive alcohol.
https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/osteoporosis/treatment/

Find out about osteoporosis, a health condition that weakens bones, making them fragile and more likely to break. There is also information on osteopenia, the stage of bone loss before osteoporosis, and how to stop it becoming osteoporosis.

Infection Prevention Week , 19th - 25th October

Infection Prevention Week is a week dedicated to raising awareness about how simple actions can prevent the spread of infections and protect the most vulnerable in our communities. Infections can spread quickly, but many are preventable. Whether it’s through proper hand hygiene, vaccinations or knowing when to seek medical advice, we all play a role in keeping our community safe.

The theme this year of Infection Prevention Week is is ‘Never a Nuisance’. If you’re concerned about any aspects of hygiene, at home or when you’re out, never be afraid to speak out to protect you and your family.

Each year, we discuss why infection prevention is so important in babies, and what signs and symptoms to look out for. We will also show how we can all work together to keep babies safe from infection. Keep your eyes peeled for Infection Prevention Week this year on 19-25 October. Ultimately, with y...
