A Monday well spent. We always start our Monday's with the Famileo Gazette being delivered to the residents, a moment I love and I know the residents do too. Then our ever growing crossword club in the cinema was a great session for the morning activity, getting those brain cogs ticking after the weekend. Lots of time in the garden, the doors have been open and the sun has been shining through. Feeding the birds and bird watching, they are eating their way through all the food we keep topping up! This afternoon we had a full lounge for a presentation delivered by Jon one of our family members, the topic was; The Windmills of the Fylde Coast. This was great and very informative! We are always very grateful of Jon giving his time to lead a quiz or presentation that he takes a lot of time to prepare. A great turnout! This was followed by more time in the garden whilst inside a touch of karaoke was happening with our lovely Carrie Anne getting the mic for the residents to sing along! A truly lovely day.

What a busy and wonderful sunny Friday we have had! We started the day with armchair exercises, using balloons and colourful scarves whilst moving to music, we have checked and watered our sunflower seeds. Lots of time outdoors in the garden walking and enjoying a drink in the sunshine. Bingo this afternoon too, followed by more relaxing in the garden for anybody wanting too. It is so lovely to finally enjoy some sunshine and warmth! The ice creams and chilled drinks have been flowing! I'm sure the sunflowers will have started to sprout by Monday!

Yesterday in our Wednesday nature based activity we planted sunflower seeds. We had a selection of seeds to choose from and each resident planted their own that they will look after and nuture in their rooms until they are ready to go outside. We are having a competition for the biggest sunflower! I can't wait to support and watch as the sunflowers develop. A lovely afternoon everyone involved was very enthusiastic about their sunflower. #

National Tea Day! Known to be one of the most 'British days of the year!' Of course we had to celebrate! The nation and most of us here at Starr Hills love tea! So we got our China teacups out and had a variety of tea to taste and naturally cake and bakewell tarts to compliment. The residents enjoyed trying different types of herbal and fruit teas. All topped up with tea and cake before the afternoon Starr Hills Service lead by Richard our Chaplain. A wonderfully British afternoon with the sun shining through!

This afternoon we have had a lovely nature based activity making bird feeders to hang around our garden. Some residents have been watching the birds recently whilst in the garden and from their rooms. Now they have plenty of food to hopefully keep them coming back and attract more! It is so lovely bird watching, we hope to even spot some squirrels soon. The feeders have been placed around the garden and in view of some of the rooms so we can observe any little visitors! Unfortunatley the weather was windy and very wet this afternoon so we held the activity in the lounge with scenic views and bird sounds on the big screen in the background. Nature based activities provide meaningful engagements and give a sense of purpose and calm.

A wonderful Wednesday for us today at Starr Hills, being outside in the garden lots and enjoying the sunshine and fresh air whilst the weather has been glorious for a change! On top of that we have had a lovely afternoon with a pop up clothes shop coming out to visit us. Jo from Dotty and Mabel brought her clothes out to us for a bit of retail therapy. Everyone enjoyed looking at the clothes and accessories and chatting away to the lovely ladies! It's always a pleasure to have Jo and her team visiting us.

Little Easter craft session yesterday afternoon. Crafts are a great way to boost cognitive function, whilst keeping those fine motor skills active. It was a very therapeutic and relaxing afternoon. Creating cards gave the residents a lovely sense of purpose as they decided who they were making them for and the end result gave a great sense of accomplishment. Well done our little crafters.
