2025 marks a truly special milestone for us at Mark F H Rae Funeral Services - 20 years of serving our community from our Wood Street funeral home.

Our premises were dedicated and blessed on 29th July 2005 by the Rt. Rev’d Nicholas Reade, Bishop of Blackburn, and later officially opened on 19th September 2005 by Councillor Miss Patricia Fieldhouse. Since that day, we have remained committed to providing compassionate care, dignity, and support to families when they need it most.

As we reflect on two decades on Wood Street, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the families who have trusted us, the community that has supported us, and the colleagues who have walked this journey alongside us.

Our motto, Servio cm Dignitas — I serve with dignity — continues to guide everything we do.

Here’s to 20 years of dedicated service, and to continuing our work with the same respect, compassion, and dignity for many years to come.

Today, we pause to honour the courage, service, and sacrifice of all those who have served—and continue to serve—our country.

At Mark F H Rae Funeral Services, we join the nation in reflection as we observe the two-minute silence at 11am. We remember the brave men and women who gave everything so that we may live in peace and freedom.

May their legacy live on in our hearts, and may we continue to cherish the values they fought to protect.

“At the going down of the sun, and in the morning,
We will remember them.”

🌺 Lest we forget.

Today, we paused to honour the courage and sacrifice of all who served — those who returned and those who gave their lives for our freedom.

Their bravery shaped the world we know today, and their memory continues to guide us toward peace, unity, and gratitude.

We will remember them.

Supporting a Friend Through Grief 🤍

Grief can feel overwhelming — here are simple ways to help:

• Be present — listen, even in silence
• Acknowledge their loss — gentle words mean so much
• Offer practical help — meals, errands, childcare
• Check in often — support matters long after the funeral

You don’t need the perfect words — just a caring heart.

💙 November is Men’s Health Awareness Month 💙

We’re proud to stand alongside our community in supporting Movember — a month dedicated to raising awareness of men’s health, both physical and mental.

Too many men suffer in silence when it comes to issues like mental wellbeing, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer. This November, let’s change that.

👉 Check in on your mates.
👉 Have open, honest conversations.
👉 Encourage regular health checks.

Small talks can make a big difference — and sometimes, they can save a life.

Let’s keep the men we love healthy, supported, and heard. 💬💙
