A little Small Business Saturday today shouting out the lovely .bricks.silver who first came into my life almost 25 years ago when we started high school (oh gosh I feel old!).
She was truly one of my closest most amazing friends during those teenage years, with so many wonderful (hilarious and emotional) memories that I still looked back on fondly (and with many a cringe at times!)

But as it often does, life happened and we drifted apart as university, jobs and the real world took over. You always think at the time that these friends will be with you for life and you'll know every in and out of their lives, but adult responsibilities and changing paths often have other plans and whilst the love remains the contact fades.

But last year the universe had other plans and at a time when my world was heavy with grief and loss it gave me a little glimmer of forgotten memories as our paths crossed again. Now no longer teenagers hanging out in castle gardens, or texting till our credit ran out, now instead two small business owners finding our way in a busy and fast paced world.

I spent many a month trying to decide which of her lovely pieces I was going to buy, but when she shared her snakeys it was decision made. This little guy arrived last month (on my birthday no less!) and I've rarely been without him since. Her work is absolutely stunning, from the necklace itself to the beautiful packaging, this truly is a lovely piece I will treasure and without a doubt won't be my last! It goes without saying I would highly recommend her for any silver jewellery.

So thank you so much .bricks.silver for both those heady teenage years and the new found paths we find ourselves meeting on now. Here's to the people who come back into your lives and here's to finally meeting up again this year โค๏ธ

This week has been a balancing act between finishing up painting at the shop... and prepping all of this for the event, exhaustion has been at an all time high!

We had such a great time though, it was so lovely to see so many friends as well as meeting some equally lovely new people! To hear that so many of you are following the journey of the shop and already planning visits was so amazing and has left us with such a warm fuzzy feeling! ๐Ÿฅน

Our shop started its in person shopping life at planner events back in 2019 and to have such an incredible community still supporting us to this day and joining us on this next adventure is amazing. We cannot wait to see familiar faces coming through the door.

Thank you to the lovely team and all our fellow stallholders and table buddies for a great event, whilst we were here working it never truly feels like it when you're surrounded by friends ๐Ÿ’œ

For now though, it's time to get a good night's sleep before going back to the shop tomorrow for wood staining and shelf building!

Our next event is on the 11th April in Manchester, we hope to see lots of you there!

Getting paint colours mixed is actually terrifying, especially when you're looking for such deep particular shades, there's very little margin for error when it's not returnable!
All the internal paint arrived last week and we'd not been brave enough to open it... but it was time. So here it is - one of the new Whisporia colours that will be all the woodwork in the bookshop...We hope you love it as much as we do!..next up opening the wall and ceiling paint ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Happy World Book Day! ๐Ÿ“š

Whilst we can't have a big celebration in the shop this year, we can still celebrate just how amazing books are and treat you all to 20% off!

Whether it's a new bookmark, a wax melt or two or perhaps a sneaky book... We've got you covered!

Thank you for all the love and excitement on all the shop updates, we are working round the clock to make this space as incredible as possible so all your orders now whether they're one thing or ten things are so appreciated - you're truly helping us build the bookshop!

It's the little things...

Somehow it's day 3 of the shop, it both feels like no time at all, but also like this is exactly where we were always meant to be.

We've been making a start on decorating...so much paint! But also taking a little time to appreciate the small things that make this space special.

We love that this is a building with history, with quirky details and remnants of its previous lives. Whilst without a doubt a lot will be changing to make it Whisporia's new home, these little things will all be treasured and lots more little treasures added too.

Scroll to the end for the littlest thing of all ๐Ÿพ

We've given you a sweeping view of the front shop space itself... But that's only one part of this building! Who fancies seeing upstairs next?

If you've been here a while you'll know we've been searching for this space for over two years, but finally on the 1st March we unlocked the door the future home of Whisporia.

It's empty, it needs work, and honestly it's slightly terrifying.

But it's ours and it couldn't be more perfect.

Tell us your favourite thing in Indie bookshops or what would you love to see in the Whisporia Bookshop?

Let's talk about Wednesday...

Who knew that a birthday could be so expensive ๐Ÿ˜‚

Things lined up this week in a way that meant we spent Emily's birthday at IKEA, and really what more can you ask for for your birthday than IKEA meatballs and 8 trolleys worth of shop fitment shopping!

Yep you read that right... 8 trolleys was what we relayed through the IKEA warehouse and then very slowly took through the tills (with the poor staff having to count every single item!)

We bought shelves (many many shelves!) chairs, cushions, mugs, plates, bins, boxes, tables, benches, displays and much much more.Without a doubt we haven't got it all, there's still lots more to get. But with our nearest IKEA being 2.5hrs away, we decided to get as much as we could in trip #1.

It was a bit of a marathon finding and loading it all onto trolleys, and definitely a Jenga situation fitting it all in the van. But we were thankfully helped hugely by Emily's parents - we'd still be there moving trolleys if it wasn't for them!

It doesnโ€™t look like much yet, just piles of pine and cardboard. But this is the beginning ๐Ÿค
