I missed you quietly today. So quietly that no one noticed.

I missed you as I climbed out of bed and as I brushed my teeth; when I waited at the lights on the drive into work and as I heard the rain outside my window.

I missed you as I ordered lunch and as I kicked off my shoes when I got home; as I switched off the lights and climbed into bed for the night.

I missed you without tears or noise or fanfare.
But oh how I felt it.

I felt it in the morning, at lunchtime, in the evening and at night. I felt it as I woke, as I waited, as I worked. I felt it at home, on the road, in the light, in the dark, in the rain.
I felt it in every one of those moments, each one sitting heavier and heavier as the weight of me missing you kept growing and growing.

Yes, I missed you so quietly today.

But I felt it so loudly xx🙏♥️

DID YOU KNOW?
A ‘viewing’ is a special moment that allows family and friends to spend one last time with the person who has passed before the funeral. It can be a profound and meaningful part of the mourning process, especially after a sudden loss. It offers an opportunity for loved ones to find some peace, remember the person who has passed, and provide mutual support during a challenging time.

Cultural and religious customs often shape the way viewings unfold - whether it’s bringing flowers, lighting candles, sharing prayers, or writing personal messages on the coffin. These traditions offer connection, comfort, and a way to honour the deceased.

While emotionally charged, viewings allow family and friends to experience a range of feelings - from deep sorrow to a smile sparked by shared memories. This moment can be a vital part of the healing process, offering space to say goodbye and cherish the life of a loved one.

When visiting a funeral director for the first time, it can feel overwhelming, but knowing what to expect can help ease that experience.
Here's a simple guide to what usually happens with us:

• A Caring Welcome: You'll meet with a funeral director / Arranger who listens to your needs, offering a calm and supportive space to talk about your loved one and what you envision for their farewell.

• Handling Paperwork: We'll help and guide with important documents like registering the death and coordinating with the crematorium or cemetery, making sure everything is in place without adding extra stress.

• Service Planning: You'll go through options for the funeral service, whether it's a burial or cremation, transportation requirements on the day, selecting readings, music, or personal touches that reflect your loved one's personality and wishes.

• Emotional and Practical Support:
We as funeral directors offer more than just logistics; we provide support and guidance, helping you make decisions during an emotional time.

Bereavement is now to be taught in schools across the North East following the Department for Education (DfE) decision to include Relationships, S*x and Health Education (RSE) guidance, meaning it is now part of the curriculum.

Children in both primary and secondary schools will receive age-appropriate teaching on issues surrounding grief, loss and the impact on relationships and families.

Many congratulations to the hard work put in by our fellow funeral directors and professional bodies to champion the support of young people facing loss.

Watching this afternoon and was truly moved. Such a beautiful, emotional procession — simple, yet so powerful. 💜 Loved The Osbournes in my teenage years and have always had a soft spot for their family. This was such a gorgeous tribute to Ozzy — raw, heartfelt, and full of love. 🖤🕊️

We offer personalised services from the beginning to the end, and are here for you every step of the way.

Our service doesn't stop when the service is complete.

We will be here for you if you need any support and advice, or just a cup of tea.

We travel to you at no charge.

The Funeral director, Daniel Rich-Gray has over 17 years within the funeral business, and in this time has gained a great deal of knowledge and skills.

As we are a small family run business this allows us to offer you the same funeral planner/director throughout your experience with us, making our services more personalised to you.

''The one thing I wanted to be able to give was more time for the families, so by setting up as an independent this is something I can offer, along with the extra bespoke touches we can give.''
