From my clinical experience..constipation is usually a combo of factors and I see this in gut testing.
I think most people expect to find something “wrong” when they are constipated like poor digestion, inflammation to maybe even infection…..something obvious they can pin it on.
Or they have been told to ‘UP’ their fibre and everything will be alright. Well…it’s not always as simple as that.
What I’m often seeing is:
✅ digestion working ok
✅ no inflammation
✅ no infection
And yet…constipation, bloating and discomfort still persists.
Breaking the food down is important but how your gut is functioning is just as important. Through testing I’m seeing:
🦠 imbalances in gut bacteria
🦠 lower production of compounds that actually stimulate the bowel
🦠 missing key bacteria that help regulate 💩
🦠 patterns linked to lack of hydration, stressy vibes and diet
The solution to this isn’t maxing out your fibre, chucking probiotics in the mix or restricting what you eat. It’s about supporting your body consistently, in a way that suits your body and what it needs.
If you have been dealing with constipation and feel like you have “tried everything”, maybe it’s time to look at the bigger picture.
