There’s something really special about stepping into a space where you’re not only learning, but also being held, inspired, and uplifted 🤍

I recently attended a Biomechanics for Birth course, beautifully hosted by and facilitated by the oh-so-gorgeous talented Shellie of … and honestly, it was just magic ✨

We explored how the body truly works in birth — not just theory, but practical, hands-on ways to support physiological birth. From understanding how the pelvis moves and creates space for baby, to using positioning, movement, and gentle techniques to encourage progress… it all just made so much sense.

What I loved most is that so much of it was building on things I already knew… but taking that knowledge to a much deeper level. It connected all the dots — the “why” behind what we do as birth workers — and gave me even more confidence in supporting the body in a way that feels intuitive and respectful.

We explored how intentional, supportive positioning and movement can create more ease and flow in labour — giving both mum and baby the space they need to work together. It’s about tuning into the body, responding to what it’s asking for, and trusting the process as it unfolds

But beyond the learning, what really stayed with me was the energy in the room. Being surrounded by such talented, passionate, like-minded women… sharing knowledge, stories, laughter, and that deep understanding of birth — it fills your cup in a way that’s hard to put into words 💫

I feel so grateful to keep growing, learning, and bringing this deeper knowledge into the way I support families. Because when we understand the body, trust it, and create the right environment… birth can unfold in the most powerful, instinctive way 🌿

If you’re pregnant or preparing for birth, know this — your body is designed for this. And there are so many beautiful ways to support it along the way 🤍

There’s something really special about those first conversations 🤍✨

Sitting together, gently getting to know each other… hearing their hopes, their thoughts, their little worries, and all the dreams they’re holding for their birth and beyond 🤰🏼💫
It never feels like “just a consultation” — it feels like the beginning of something meaningful.

I always leave these meetings feeling so calm, so grounded, and deeply grateful 🌿 Grateful that families invite me into such a tender, transformative chapter of their lives. To hold space, to listen, to share, and to simply be alongside them 🤍

There’s no pressure, no expectations — just a connection. A feeling. A sense of “this feels right” ✨

And when it does… it’s magic 💛
Feeling very grateful today 💫

Being chosen to be someone’s doula is something I never take lightly.

It’s more than just being “booked” — it’s being trusted, invited into one of the most intimate, powerful, and vulnerable moments in someone’s life.

It’s knowing that out of everyone, they chose you to hold space for them.
To breathe with them.
To reassure them.
To remind them of their strength when things feel overwhelming.
To witness them becoming.

It’s sitting with their hopes, their fears, their plans, and sometimes their uncertainties — and honouring all of it without judgement.
It’s building a connection that goes beyond appointments… one that feels safe, calm, and deeply human.

And honestly? It feels like an absolute privilege every single time.

Because birth isn’t just about the baby being born — it’s about a mother being born too.

And to be invited into that space…
to support, to guide, to simply be there..

That’s something truly special 🤍

🤍

💜Some births look very different on paper than they feel in the room.

✨30 hours of labour.
Shift changes.
New midwives.
Consultants appearing.

✨Questions asked along the way.
And through it all, a woman continuing to listen to her body.

✨Her wishes spoken.
Her preferences shared.
Her voice steady through every wave.
Sometimes advocacy in birth isn’t loud or dramatic

✨Sometimes it’s simply repeating those wishes when new faces enter the room.
Holding the space.

✨Keeping the focus on the parents.
Helping the room remember whose birth it is.
This birth had twists and turns.

✨But it was also calm, raw, powerful and deeply positive.

✨Because birth isn’t just about how a baby arrives.
It’s about whether a woman feels heard, respected and supported while she brings them into the world.

Big love to this incredible mum and the steady support of dad. 🤍

The Famous Tea & Toast After Birth ☕🍞
If you’ve given birth in hospital in the UK, you’ve probably heard about it…

The legendary tea and toast that midwives bring you after your baby arrives.
And honestly? In that moment it can feel like the best cup of tea and toast you’ve ever had in your life.

After hours of labour your body has worked incredibly hard. You’ve used huge amounts of energy, your hormones are shifting, and suddenly you’re meeting your baby while feeling exhausted, emotional, and often very hungry.

That warm cup of tea and simple toast can feel comforting, grounding and symbolic — a little “you did it” moment from your midwives. 💛

But from a nutrition point of view, it’s not exactly the most nourishing post-labour meal.
Your body has just run the equivalent of a marathon.
It needs energy, protein, hydration and minerals to start recovering.

So while the tea and toast is a lovely tradition… it’s worth thinking about what else you might want ready afterwards.
Some nourishing ideas you might pack in your birth bag or ask your partner to bring:
🍌 A banana for quick natural sugars and potassium
🥜 Nut butter or protein snacks
🍲 A nourishing soup or broth
🥪 A sandwich with protein
🍫 A few squares of chocolate (because… balance!)
🥤 Coconut water or an electrolyte drink

Eat the toast for the experience…
But don’t forget your body might need something a little more substantial too.
Birth is powerful work.
You deserve to be well fed afterwards. ✨

👇 Let’s make this interactive:
Did you get the famous tea & toast after birth?
OR
What was the first thing you ate after your baby arrived?

Tell me in the comments — I love hearing these stories! ⬇️

International Women’s Day 🌿

I’ve just spent the last three days on the delivery suite supporting one incredibly strong, powerful mama as she brought her baby into the world.

Birth is raw, intense, emotional, and deeply transformative — and witnessing a woman move through labour with strength, instinct and courage is something that never stops amazing me.

I also had the privilege of being surrounded by some truly wonderful midwives. Women who show up every day to hold space, offer calm reassurance, advocate, guide, and support families in one of the most important moments of their lives. Their dedication, compassion and quiet strength deserves so much recognition.

Today feels like the perfect moment to celebrate them too.

To the amazing mum I supported — your strength, determination and trust in yourself was inspiring. It was an honour to walk alongside you on this journey.

To the midwives who held the room with such care — thank you for the work you do.
And to all the incredible women bringing babies into the world today, this week, and every day — you are powerful beyond measure.

Birth reminds us just how extraordinary women truly are.

Happy International Women’s Day to every birthing mum, every midwife, every mother, and every woman supporting women. 💜
