Last week, we said goodbye to a precious soul taken far too soon. In a moment filled with love, sorrow, and grace, a beautiful white horse and carriage, carried our little one her final journey.

The elegant tribute was more than just tradition - it was a symbol of purity, peace and the deep love that surrounds this child and her family. Though her time with us was heartbreakingly short, their impact will be felt forever.

Rest peacefully little one. You were - and always will be so deeply loved.

⚖️Legacy Funeral Directors, Hull⚖️

Robert Bush, owner of Hull's Legacy Independent Funeral Directors, appeared in court today but did not enter a plea for any of the 65 charges he faces, which includes 30 counts of preventing a lawful burial.

The defence was not in position to proceed because of the large number of papers related to the case, so an adjourned plea and trial preparation hearing is now scheduled for Wednesday, 15 October at 2pm, and is estimated to last about two hours.

The situation in Hull is truly awful, and this delay will prolong the suffering for the loved ones of the deceased concerned and the local community. Our thoughts are with them.

The NAFD would like to highlight the fact that events like this are extremely rare and serve to underline just how important it is to select a reputable funeral director. We only get one chance to say goodbye, so it is incredibly important to get it right.

Funerals matter, and by choosing an NAFD member, bereaved families can be reassured that they have picked a funeral director who abides by the Funeral Director Code, and who is inspected by one of our expert team of Standards and Quality Managers.

We will report back to members after the adjourned plea and trial preparation hearing in October.

🌾 Worstead Festival 2025 – What a Weekend! 🌾

We were proud to be one of the sponsors of this year’s incredible Worstead Festival, attending both days and joining the fantastic Sponsors Meet & Greet on Friday evening. Although being drenched on more than one occasion, it was a pleasure connecting with fellow sponsors, community members, and so many of the 10,000+ attendees who made the weekend so special.

From live music and local crafts to delicious food and vibrant energy, the festival truly showcased the heart of Norfolk. One of the highlights for us was learning to spin yarn from sheep's wool in the church! The enthusiasm of everyone we met made it unforgettable!

Earlier this week, our colleagues Terry and Carole joined other volunteers on a weekly litter pick, organised by Wroxham Parish Council.

We are always pleased where we can, to support local initiatives like this, which go a long way to keeping such a beautiful part of the country clean and tidy.

Alternative transport options are one of many ways to personalise a funeral. Recently, we were able to fulfil a request from a family to provide a Camper Van Hearse to convey their loved one on their final journey.

The 1965 VW Camper Van named 'Ernie' was hired from Mortons Funeral Directors, who are based in the West Midlands. Mortons have a wide range of alternative funeral vehicles in their fleet and one of the wonderful things about being in the funeral industry is how often different funeral directors collaborate to fulfil the requests of the bereaved.
