MensCraft

MensCraft See our website www.menscraft.org.uk MensCraft supports boys and men of all ages. We provide one-to-one support and access to other specialist services.

We offer information, activities and programmes to meet the challenges of each different life stage. Our approach is strengths based and promotes the values of positive masculinity and gender equality. We support young men making the transition to adulthood; men as fathers and those experiencing difficulties for example in their family lives or with their mental health. Our range of activities give boys and men purpose, the opportunity for connection with others, and opportunities for improved wellbeing.

🧑‍🧒 Caring Dads teaches fathers techniques that put the needs of their children first, replacing neglectful, intimidating or shaming parenting practices with respectful, empathetic and nurturing child-centred approaches.

Men learn about the impact of the abuse of children’s mothers on their children and are taught skills for taking accountability and rebuilding trust.

The programme is for:
✅ Any father, including step-fathers, where father and/or child is resident in Norfolk.
✅ Fathers in contact with at least one of their children.
✅ Fathers willing to commit for the duration of the programme.

Did you know that we have a Pit Stop in ? All men over 18 are welcome to our weekly Monday evening session at Caister Community Spoon. It's a great way to make friends, get support and find new hobbies and interests.

Unique to Pit Stops are "check-ins", a more thoughtful part of the session where men have the opportunity to talk about how they are feeling and what's going on for them, whether good, bad, or somewhere in between. There is no obligation to contribute - just being there to listen and support other members is enough - but many men find this opportunity to share their thoughts and feelings in a non-judgemental space is incredibly helpful.

We now have a dedicated page for all our East Norfolk and Waveney Pit Stops where we'll be posting information about the groups and special events 👇

Looking for that perfect last-minute Christmas gift for the aspiring writer in your life? Always wanted to write your autobiography but don’t know where to start? We’ve got you.

Join local writer and performer John Osborne on a four-week course in March that will enable you to tell your own story. This short course teaches the fundamentals of creative writing, with a focus on storytelling, through the lens of your own life.

John has taught creative writing in schools, prisons and universities. He created the theatre shows Norwich: A Love Story for Norwich Playhouse and John Peel’s Shed for BBC Radio 4. In 2025 he made a Food Programme for Radio 4 - In Search of Norwich’s Mustard Legacy. He created and co-wrote the Sky 1 comedy drama After Hours, directed by Craig Cash. His first book Radio Head was broadcast as BBC Radio 4’s Book of the Week.

Every Thursday in March, 7.30 - 9pm, at MensCraft in Norwich. Book here: https://events.humanitix.com/tell-your-own-story

MensCraft’s wellbeing activists, the ‘Hoodies for Happiness’, gathered at our offices last week to make Christmas crackers to be donated to a local church ‘warm space’ gathering. The Hoodies aim to contribute to kinder communities by ‘committing’ random acts of kindness. This activism isn’t entirely selfless as these gifted geezers know that giving gives back to them in spades.

There's always been a bit of confusion between MensCraft and Men's Sheds in Norfolk, and for good reason: Norwich Mens Shed – one of the first in the whole of the UK – was in fact started by some of the founders and first employees of MensCraft. So we thought: Why not actually partner up?!

We're delighted to welcome Jonny Wood to the team. Jonny is an experienced Shedder with an interest in men's work and loads of experience in the wider voluntary sector. He'll be deepening the connections between MensCraft and the Norfolk Men's Sheds Network, helping to connect more men to supportive communities in both directions.

Jonny's wasted no time in spreading the word. Read his report from a recent visit to HMP Wayland where he and Pit Stop manager Karl were invited to a staff wellbeing day. 👇

On Wednesday, Thetford Pit Stop hosted a Christmas lunch for 20+ of their members and supporters. Local Coordinator Chris was the driving force behind this wonderful gathering, sourcing, hanging, plucking and gutting 20 pheasants himself!

Members, volunteers and even our Chief Exec pitched in to help prepare and cook an unforgettable meal. ❤️

Back in September, Edd (left) and Gary (centre) from the Norfolk Farmers Masonic Lodge cycled almost 200 miles over a weekend to raise money for three great charities, including us!

It’s always a joy to take the Big Cheque out to meet our brilliant fundraisers. Thinking of doing a fundraising challenge in 2026 and want to support more men in Norfolk and Waveney to be happier and healthier? Get in touch! We’d love to support you however we can.

A genuine and heartfelt Thank You to everyone who came along and supported the guys at The MensLaugh Comedy Showcase last night! It was a lot of fun and we raised a load of money to carry on doing these sort of activities.

The comedians all did us, and more importantly, themselves proud, overcoming their anxiety to entertain a lovely "sell-out" crowd.

A special Thank You too to Mark Ahier for headlining the night. Absolutely brilliant!
