📢 New website
💬 Would you like to give your feedback?

alanlongcroft.co.uk

I'm always trying to keep the website simple and easy to use but lately it's been cluttered and links have stopped working as the pages and sections they direct to have been continually amended. Now HOPEFULLY everything is working and have the most user-friendly version yet🤞

This is an entirely self-build website with no professional help. The website is how new patients can find out about my services and it's the portal where my existing patients can schedule their appointments. And while I may be a tech-savvy millennial who knows his way around a computer, I don't know a java from an html and website design is not what I do. I'm an acupuncturist and the simpler and easier I can keep this for my patients, the more time I can devote to caring for the people who seek my help 💆‍♂️

You're welcome to tell me:
👀 Does everything look right?
🔍 Are you able to find what you need?
🔤 Is there any overlapping text?
📖 Is everything clear and readable?
✅️ Does everything make sense?
🔗 Do all the links work and take you to where you expect to go?
🖼 How do you feel about the style and layout?

This and any futher feedback is much welcomed and much appreciated 🙏

Wrapped up the final clinic day of the year and counting down to 2025. This is the first time in 8 years of practice I've taken 2½ weeks off for Christmas - this year sorely needed. Wishing everybody well over the festive period and will be back from 6th January.

Mantlepiece at my Tuesday location at St. Stephen's Practice, looking festive with the Christmas cactus in bloom and cards gifted from patients this year. Look forward to seeing you in 2025 ❤️

OK Nigel Ng just made a Chinese Medicine version of Fifty Shades of Grey and I'm here for it ✌️

But I promise as a registrant of the British Acupuncture Council and the Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine I won't put anything in your ears and I won't be using matches to do your cupping 😇

And I sure as hell won't administer directly into your bunions... Very ouch.

"A good while ago now I broke my wrist, and after taking the cast off I had absolutely no flexibility or movement in my wrist and it wasn't getting any better and I was referred to an acupuncturist. And, I kid you not, the acupuncturist put one needle in the middle of my forearm and before my very eyes my hand went like 'that'. And ever since then I've been a convert.

"I saw it with my own eyes. I could not move my wrist, I don't know what this acupuncturist did, but it was absolutely life changing."

Acupuncture is an effective alternative to painkillers and here's Isabel Webster putting her finger on exactly that in interview with Sarah Major Acupuncture on GB News. In a nutshell, drug treatment can take the edge off the pain, acupuncture can relieve the pain, improve function and increase range of motion.

"After the first session, the pain relief was amazing.”

Proud to support

A fibromyalgia success story published in the Northants Telegraph. Maxine Glover, a University researcher, was helped in her treatments from Spod Dutton of The Modern Acupuncture Clinic, a colleague of the British Acupuncture Council, which she hadn't been able to find elsewhere.

An all too familiar story of fibromyalgia. “I had been suffering with pain on and off for years, with the benefit of hindsight, I now believe that this was fibromyalgia all along. To help manage my condition, I used to visit an osteopath and immediately after treatment I would feel better, but then a day later I would be back to square one. I was at the depths of despair pain-wise.”

And thanks to her acupuncture treatment, "After four sessions of a mixture of acupuncture and cupping she became more mobile and in less pain. As the sessions have progressed, the overall pain-relieving effect has lasted longer."

Fibromyalgia is one of the most common reasons people seek out acupuncture treatment. Acupuncture is a versatile tool which can manage pain and a range of healthcare conditions. There is good scientific evidence to support its use in fibromyalgia, whereas there is little evidence that usual care options such as NSAID pain killers can provide much help. This is why the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence which directs the care options of the National Health Service recommends acupuncture for fibromyalgia and a range of other painful conditions in their since 2022 in their best practice guidelines for Chronic Primary Pain (NG 193).

And Maxine says “I now feel so much stronger emotionally and I’m getting my life back.”

"Since February 2013, the BAcC’s register has been accredited by an independent body which is accountable to Parliament. Patients and the public are able to choose an acupuncturist belonging to a register vetted and approved by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care (PSA). The BAcC was one of the first organisations to become a PSA Accredited Register."
