Just a reminder that lots of procedures can be performed under local anaesthetic (LA). You're awake, you have a small injection, the procedure is carried out, and you're on your way home before you know it. Here's me at the slick Healthshare Clinic this week, but I offer the same at Spire Norwich Hospital and out of hours at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital, too. So, it's always worth asking, "Can you do it under LA?" 😷👌😎

Trip down memory lane. This certificate just popped up via Facebook with a message 'better late than never'😂😎. Reminded me of what an amazing time I had in Perth, and more broadly the friendships I've made, the opportunities I've had, and the training and experience I've accrued over my career....and I'm only 27 years in!😲 Need to also acknowledge the huge supporting role my wife has played in all this too.🙏😘

Keloid scar follow-up 10 weeks on (see previous post). So far, so good. Many thanks again to the lovely patient who consented to a quick snap in the clinic this evening.

This reminder popped up on my phone this morning - 5 years ago today I was working out how to safely operate with loupe magnification using a protective mask from my shed! If only we knew then what we know now....

Ear keloids. Essentially, it is an overactive scar, with the ear being a high-risk site, mainly from piercings. I usually cut these out (debulk them) and then use steroid injections and a custom pressure clip to reduce recurrence. Here's one from today with the impressions used to create a pressure clip to be applied shortly after the stitches are removed post-op. Thanks to the amazing Oral Health Lab team at NNUH for their skills (and the patient for kindly consenting to my using their photo)

A quick demonstration of filler properties. The original aim was to illustrate what 1ml of filler looked like, but perhaps the more visual element is the way different thicknesses of products used for different areas behave 🧐🤔😎. In the first picture the HA filler is thinner, used for superficial treatment, and so it sinks more into the sphere. In the second picture the HA filler is thicker, being used to volumise, and so it maintains its plumper injected shape in the sphere. Both are from the Juvederm range of HA fillers and measure 1ml.
