I haven’t taught my postnatal recovery classes for nearly three years, but for some reason I’ve been asked about them, and why I stopped teaching them, more than ever over the last few weeks. So here’s why.

When new research started to be published, showing the benefits of moving and loading the postnatal body, I no longer felt I was teaching up to date information. My background is fitness, health and exercise and so this is my jam!

There is, without question, room for completely mat based classes, but tell me I can move the gorgeous individuals I work with more and I will 😊 (remember this is very personal to each person)

So when I made big decisions and moved my services to , I was ecstatic to be asked to teach their parent and baby circuit class. It really felt the stars aligned!

In this space I can still teach mat based foundations, core activation as well as use all the equipment available. We’re in a large space that can accommodate all we need, and maintain the health and safety of the babies around us.

We are on an ever moving conveyor belt of information, research updates, and we adapt and accommodate as best we can.

If you look closely at this beauty you'll see that the mother has a very subtle pastel pink marbled through her. This is to represent that she hasn't lost her 'pink' even if it sometimes feels that way 🦩

You are a beautiful individual whose journey back to running will be unique to you.

Adding impact steadily and mindfully will ensure your whole body is happy on that progressive path.

What’s working for your mum friend might not be what you need, and I appreciate how annoying and frustrating this is. Being told in black and white is far easier but the human body doesn’t work that way ❤️

Birth preparation matters because it offers you every ounce of information you do not get from maternity services and appointments.

Birth choices matter but thy can only be made when all of the options are laid out to choose from!

Medical appointments are not long enough and hospital appointments, more often than not, are very one sided.

Whilst my bump yoga+ classes are not full antenatal educations, I do my utmost to give as much information as I can each week and this can work beautifully alongside an antenatal/hypnobirthing course.

Yes, the overwhelm of information can definitely have you feeling a little confused and lost

But this isn’t what I am talking about

I think we feel lost because we’ve lost the spark, the joy and excitement surrounding pregnancy

It has become normalised to step onto this pregnancy conveyor belt and trudge through the motions, the appointments and maternity services. Which, sadly, do not always fill us with joy and happiness

Pain, discomfort, fatigue have been also been normalised, but this isn’t the case

You hold the power to feel amazing and so you should. You are strong, beautiful and amazing and are growing another little human!
