Funeral information for a dearly loved local chef, James Rouse who worked for many venues locally here in Norwich and the surrounding areas.

A man of great character and gentleness, fondly remembered by all who knew him not only here in Norfolk but the many friends from further afield across the country and overseas.

James will be deeply missed by his loving family and those that meant so much to him.

Footage taken as we arrived at Cromer Crematorium on Wednesday this week for the funeral of the late Tony Hinds.

We were due to start at 12noon but I took it upon myself to delay this by two minutes to allow the red arrows to go overhead which they did, unleashing a sky of colour which reduced the family to tears.

Not many can say they had the red arrows at their loved ones funeral, a memory they will have forever.

Thank you to the family for entrusting Tony into the care of our family and for giving their permission for us to share this video.

Christopher Robert Durrant of Aylsham.

Sadly passed away on 2nd August 2025 aged 77 years. Reunited now with his late wife Pat. Deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

We are out early this morning looking after a local family for a direct cremation service. Look at these fantastic flowers the family arranged for their loved one.

We are taking the hearse past their house on our way to the crematorium to enable them to wave their loved one off.

Direct cremations although simplified can still be personalised and fitting for that final journey.

We make this possible, because we are a family who care about every detail.

Outside of our funeral home this morning I was chatting to a couple of dog walkers and they queried 'Direct Cremation' and those they see on the TV adverts.

It is still widely unknown by the general public that every local funeral director offer this service, and if using a family business, will be far more cost effective and personal.

We are compassionate funeral directors who have spent decades looking after the bereaved. Despite the simplicity of this service, no loved one should be collected by non funeral professionals, put in the back of a van and taken away to far-flung locations for a cremation (where practices cannot be monitored)

It is our privilege to be looking after the funeral arrangements of a dearly loved husband, dad, grandad, brother, uncle and friend to many. Fondly known around the North Walsham, Sheringham and Cromer areas of North Norfolk, deeply missed by all who knew him.

Mourners attending the funeral are advised to allow extra travel time to the crematorium due to carnival day traffic.

Our ‘Attended Direct Cremation service’ allows a full 1 hr service within the beautiful service hall of either GreenAcres Colney or the Norfolk Bluebell Wood, Hainford.

Being family owned we can adapt our services for every family and be as flexible as we like.

We include;

- Hearse and required staff

- Dress your loved one for a chapel visit
- Officiant fee
- Venue hire fee

- One to one service from Lewis throughout

This afternoon a family we have recently looked after visited us to leave this fantastic hamper!

It’s amazing the lengths families will go to show their appreciation.

Our family and staff are certainly very appreciative of this gift and shall raise a toast to their loved one when we enjoy the contents in the days to come.

We are building a strong reputation locally for delivering excellence and most importantly providing our compassionate care.

Today, I sat down with a family to arrange a simplified direct unattended cremation for their loved one. During which, I was asked a question by the family 'Does dad travel to the crematorium in your hearse?' to which I replied 'of course'.

They did not like the thought of dad's final journey to be in a van.

Treating every family and their loved one with respect no matter how much money that family may be spending is important to us.

A last ride in our dignified hearse ensures that the final journey is a respectful one, befitting of a loved ones life.

On 'Our Direct Cremation' funeral and 'Our Direct Cremation +' services, we also offer families the option of having the hearse travel via a private address on our way to the crematorium to enable those left behind to gather together and wave their loved one off on their final journey.
