Reducing the chaos you choose: Part 2

My morning routine won’t work for you, as we all live different lives and home life varies so much.

I’m a 5am girlie, you might be a night owl. But the principles can be the same.

- wake and drink water (Ayurveda = health)

- journal - get the lists out, the spiralling thoughts, skim off the bu****it, acknowledge what’s important and what’s not

- mediate - while your mind is quiet

- learn - I use Duolingo and non fiction in the morning. I can listen to audiobooks while I walk and duo takes 5 minutes.

- move / nature - this is usually a dog walk, used to be the gym as well. Connect with your physical self and nature.

- shower - sometimes with music to manage my nervous system (up or down depending what I might need)

- eat - same breakfast 90% of the time so I don’t have to think, plan, or worry that I don’t have food. It’s there, simple and nutritious.

- create - work, podcast, content, create create create.

Key points:

1. I don’t pick up my phone for the first hour of my day

2. When I do it’s to learn not consume (consume = news, social media, messages, emails etc)

3. By the time I’ve picked up my phone to learn I’m already aware of my mental state and what I need that day

4. I prioritise me before I allow the rest of the world in.

5. Priorities creation over consumption.

6. If you know you, it’s easier to notice when external influence affects your mental state.

What does your morning look like?
How soon are you consuming?

Every moment captured was one where I either knew:

• I was in the right place,
• had that excitement and drive to create,
• was with the right person,
• or it was a moment when I knew something had to change.

Trust that feeling, keep your circle small, go follow the signs with true abandon, everything you want is right there ready for you.

The self study involved in making it happen along the way is guaranteed. But it’s worth it every time.

None of what I’ve created would’ve happen without following that feeling and then figuring out my “stuff” so it no longer held me back 🙌🏼

I adore the message from 💫 the man knows 🙌🏼

A practice of Self Study 🌱

10 modules to take yoga philosophy from something you never thought you’d understand or enjoy 👉🏼

To a concept that helps you find yourself, uncover what’s holding you back, and allows you to get out of your own way 💫

Yoga philosophy, yoga as a practice, stands the test of time, as each and every concept aligns with theories in modern psychology 📚

This course helps you take these concepts onto your mat and into your classes from day one. But the course is a deep dive into you, which allows you to grow alongside compassion and curiosity 💕

The “giving it time” approach is the key here 🔑

Give yourself a week and do them all! Everything else drops in priority. Just for one week, or until the tiny tasks are done ✅

Once they’re done you go back to your work, your priorities, the things you want to do with more clarity, less procrastination and less guilt 🙌🏼

Find out more by joining the Free .yoga workshop on Sunday 29th March, @ 10am.

I’ll be talking through mindset shifts that help you spot energy blocks and how to remove them. 🧠

The year of the horse is here.

So here’s what I’m leaving in the year of the snake after 12 months of woooooooorrrrk 😳

1. Fake versions of me

2. Lack. Anything lack vibes

3. Over booking my diary

4. Leaving my work until last

5. Constant reflection

6. Delaying / procrastination / not closing loops

7. Pretending I don’t feel things

8. Not saying how I feel

9. Sharing with people I don’t know if I feel safe with

10. Doubt

11. Leaving my social media content until the evenings

12. Using my phone after 8pm (at home)

13. Drinking squash 💔

14. Buying vegetables from supermarkets (unless an emergency)

15. Finishing books just because I started them

16. Creating chaos

17. Saying yes when I want to say no

18. Convincing people

So let’s see how it feels to let that go 💫

What’s one thing (or more) that you’re leaving behind?

✨ Some of the wonderful words of wisdom and advice I’ve heard this week after listening to the stories of growing businesses and the journey of creating something from nothing:

“The job isn’t aligned with my values any more. So it’s time to get out and do my own thing”

Lesson: know your values, trust your gut ✨

“I went on this journey myself, and created a bespoke offering based off what I needed during my own experience”

Lesson: creating your own thing means it’s impossible to get it wrong ✨

“Some days it feels like everything is going wrong. breaking. But then I remember it’s just part of it, it’s my job to put things right, so I see everything. But it’s not what everyone else sees”

Lesson: competition doesn’t exist ✨

“It takes regular conversations with my inner child…”

Lesson: your business will only grow so far as your self work allows ✨

“I just had to get out of my own way... I kept making all the excuses, but that wasn’t getting me anywhere, so here I am”

Lesson: you can only go so far as your fear allows ✨

Another week of meetings ahead as I curate the line up, and I can’t wait 🙌🏼

What moments of joy have your created in your February so far? Lots of outdoor time and dog walks have been my priority

Which has made it feel like work / life balance is doing really well ⚖️

The struggle of working all the time is real when your businesses are your own, but I know when I take the time out, I get so much more done when I’m in 💫

Have you seen the March Mindset meet up is available to book over at .yoga, and this is a topic we’ll cover in detail. I hope to see you there

It’s been one year of no exercise and here’s what I learned ⬇️

- My body is capable of amazing things

- I do not need to exercise 4+ times a week for ‘headspace’ / mental health

- There are other options and they are wonderful too.

- I can’t cheat the process, patience is essential and my body will let me know when it’s ready.

- Not knowing whats wrong is far scarier than having a diagnosis

- It’s amazing how much you can fit into 6+ extra hours a week when you’re not exercising

- There are always other options for movement and space away from work

- The allotment is a fantastic distraction

- A badminton match can help me feel fabulous for an entire week

- A 2 mile walk can floor me for days

- Non attachment practice made this whole process so much easier, but it’s still been damn hard

- There is nothing more frustrating than being unable to sauna when 96 saunas open in your local community and it’s all your friends and co workers want to do

- I experienced a serious sense of loneliness being unable to join in with friends in fitness activities and plans

- Walking maintains leg muscle

- Walking helps keep body fat % down

- Walking feels great somedays and is the hardest thing others

- DOMS is a joy and a rarity and is usually followed by a few very very slow days

- Exercise isn’t a part of my personality

- Being ill isn’t part of my personality either

- But exercise was a huge part of my social life

- Mental health has a huge impact on physical health

- With no end in sight, I will continue to build a life without movement, but when I can, I’ll be back… it’ll be different, I’ll be a new me in a new body. But my goodness, I can’t wait to move again, and I hope that that excitement helps my body heal and heal well.

This post isn’t an announcement about the fact I’m not well, it’s a post to celebrate a year of serious self study and feeling all the feels.

It’s also a huge hug to anyone who suffers with a brutal inner monologue every time you miss the gym. The daemons are real sometimes, but I promise, you’re loved regardless 🩷
