👂How Important is your Ear Health to you? Why risk life changing outcomes from not going to a professional?👂
This is a warning from the Ear Care Centre to please be cautious when it comes to choosing whom you book a Microsuction appointment with.
We are aware that it is becoming much more common for anybody to be able to complete a five hour course online and this is apparently enough adequate training to be able to carry out these proceedures.
But do you know what these courses do NOT provide?
-Hands-on clinical experience and supervised practice-
Microsuction has a tactile component that cannot be learned purely from videos or slides. Practical judgement is crucial for patient safety!
-Mentorship and assessment by experienced practitioners-
Professional bodies recommend supervised practice until competence is demonstrated and evident.
-Recognition of pathological signs, (without clinical experience, a provider may miss red flags that require referral.)
Audiologists, ENT specialists, or Clinicians trained in Ear Care should be the only people that you trust when it comes to choosing a provider.
Please dont be tricked into thinking that ANY of these are common side effects after having Microsuction:
DizzinessNoiseTemporary hearing lossPotential infectionWorsening of tinnitus (usually temporary)Injury to the ear canal
Always ask for credentials before trusting someone with such an important part of your life. Hearing and Ear Care are of vital importance, please dont risk this by not visiting a professional.
