šŸ’œ September is Urology Awareness Month.

Urological conditions, such as bladder issues, kidney disease, or incontinence, affect millions of people – yet they are rarely spoken about and are often a taboo subject. In the workplace, these conditions can lead to stigma, embarrassment, or challenges if facilities and policies aren’t inclusive.

Accessibility in this area might look like:

āœ… Providing clean, accessible toilets nearby
āœ… Allowing flexibility for medical appointments or urgent needs
āœ… Creating a culture where employees don’t feel judged for managing their health

šŸ’” When businesses take the time to understand nonvisible conditions, they help break the silence and make employees and customers feel seen and supported.

šŸ›‘ Let’s talk about the cost of inaction.

When businesses overlook accessibility, it doesn’t just create barriers—it damages trust, reputation, and even revenue.

From lost customers to potential legal risk, not being inclusive can cost far more than you think.

The good news? Improving accessibility is achievable—and you don’t need to do it alone.

Purple Reach provides:

āœ” Tailored staff training rooted in real-life examples
āœ” Strategic advice to help you meet Equality Act duties
āœ” Support from a team who live and breathe accessibility

We help you spot the gaps—and give you the tools to close them.

šŸ’¬ Not sure where to start? Let’s have a conversation. Accessibility isn’t about perfection. It’s about progress.

šŸ’¼ Welcome to the groundbreaking "Spotting the Value" report from !

This essential research reveals a staggering £4.2 billion annual loss due to disabled people being under-promoted to senior roles - that's 268,000 missing leaders in UK businesses.

šŸŽÆ Key Insights: "What we actually need is for businesses to do what they do best: follow the money" - the business case for disability inclusion has never been clearer.

"Two in five [disabled people] say they struggle to get the products and services that they need. That's basically 10% growth available if you can tap into it." - Sara Weller CBE

šŸ“ˆ The Opportunity: As the report states: "Meritocracy is the thing we're trying to grapple with here" - it's time to remove barriers and unlock potential at every level.

At Purple Reach, we're ready to support your organisation in turning these insights into action through consultancy, training, accessibility audits, and inclusive recruitment support.

šŸ•Šļø World Humanitarian Day is a moment to honour those who deliver aid and support in times of crisis.

But in the midst of emergency responses, disabled people are too often forgotten—excluded from evacuation plans, shelter access, and emergency communications.

At Purple Reach, we advocate for inclusive crisis planning that recognises disability as a core part of diversity—not an afterthought. Humanitarian action must be accessible, anticipatory, and intersectional.

This day is a call to make sure everyone is considered when it matters most. Let’s build systems that protect all lives equally.

Welcoming the new Aviation Accessibility Task and Finish Group report from the UK Department for Transport (2025) - a comprehensive roadmap for improving disabled passenger experiences in aviation.

Key findings that should concern every aviation executive: 5.5 million passengers requested assistance at UK airports in 2024 (1.9% of total passengers - up from 0.94% in 2010) Disabled passengers remain significantly less satisfied than non-disabled passengers Experience can be "ad hoc, inconsistent and sometimes catastrophic"

The business case is clear: Better accessibility = expanded market reach, improved customer satisfaction, enhanced reputation, and positive legal compliance outcomes.

But here's the reality - there's still much work to be done. The report's 19 recommendations spanning training, communication, non-visible impairments, mobility aid handling, and tailored service delivery show the scale of opportunity ahead.

For aviation businesses ready to lead on accessibility, we provide: Specialised staff training with lived experience input, Comprehensive accessibility consultancy and Mystery shopping assessments to identify gaps

The question isn't whether to act on accessibility - it's how quickly you can transform your passenger experience.

Ready to enhance your accessibility offerings? Book a discovery call to discuss your specific needs and opportunities.

šŸŒ Today we observe the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples—a day to recognise the diversity, resilience and rights of indigenous communities around the globe.

While much of the conversation rightly focuses on land, culture, and sovereignty, we also need to acknowledge the intersection of disability and indigeneity. Disabled Indigenous people often face overlapping forms of marginalisation, from inaccessible healthcare to exclusion from public discourse.

At Purple Reach, we believe in an inclusive approach to inclusion—where no voice is left behind. This means understanding how multiple identities shape experiences and access.

Inclusion doesn’t look the same for everyone—and that’s exactly why it matters.

🦮 Assistant Dog Week is a time to celebrate and acknowledge the life-changing role of assistance dogs.

These highly trained animals are more than companions—they are vital support to give disabled people independence, freedom, and safety. From guiding individuals with sight loss, to detecting seizures, or supporting those with PTSD, these dogs change lives every day.

But inclusion doesn’t stop at recognition. Many public places and businesses still don’t fully understand the rights of assistance dog users—leading to illegal refusals and inaccessible environments.

At Purple Reach, we work with businesses to ensure their teams are trained to welcome assistance dogs and their handlers with confidence, clarity, and compliance with the Equality Act 2010.

šŸ’¬ If you’re unsure about your legal responsibilities, we’re here to help.

šŸ’œ As July comes to a close, we’re taking a moment to reflect on what this month has highlighted.

From celebrating Assistance Dog Week and Disability Independence Day to recognising the importance of Self-Care and Inclusion in Friendship, July reminded us of something vital:

šŸ‘‰ Accessibility isn’t a one-off action.

It’s an ongoing commitment.

Whether it’s making a venue easier to navigate, creating clearer communication, or simply being willing to ask, ā€œWhat would make this easier for you?ā€ā€”every action counts.

This month, we’ve had meaningful conversations, new enquiries, and plenty of thoughtful moments with people and organisations who want to do better. That’s what keeps us going.

✨ If you’re new here—welcome.
✨ If you’ve worked with us—thank you.
✨ If you’ve started thinking more about accessibility—keep going.

We’re here to keep learning with you. Here’s to a more inclusive August and beyond.

🧔 Friendship is about connection—and connection thrives in inclusive spaces.

On this International Day of Friendship, we’re reflecting on how social inclusion plays a role in mental health, wellbeing, and belonging—especially for disabled people, who often face isolation because of barriers in their environment, access to transport, digital exclusion, or stigma.

Being left out—of events, conversations, or opportunities—doesn’t just impact access. It impacts confidence, self-worth, and community.

But inclusion can be friendship in action:

🌱 Inviting someone in
🌱 Making an event more accessible
🌱 Asking what someone needs to feel included
🌱 Speaking up when something isn't right

This is the kind of friendship that builds a better world. Not just one that’s kind—but one that’s actively inclusive.

🧠 National Schizophrenia Awareness Day

Today is about challenging stigma.

Schizophrenia is one of the most misunderstood mental health conditions. It doesn’t mean someone has a "split personality" or is ā€œdangerousā€ — those are outdated, harmful myths.

The reality?

Schizophrenia affects how a person thinks, feels and behaves. It can involve hallucinations, delusions, or disorganised thinking — and every person’s experience is different.

With the right support, many people live full, independent lives. But stigma often stands in the way of that support.

šŸ’¬ So today, we speak up.

We listen.

We learn.

And we show compassion.

Because awareness creates space - for better understanding, for better care, and for better lives.
