45 times around the sun today! 🎂
Some reflections and things I’ve learnt along the way! (This is not meant to sound preachy in anyway, just some musing from a yogi on her birthday).
Birthday treat at the end!
* Life is happening right now, try to live in the moment! If you dwell too much on the past or worry about what’s to come, you miss the magic of right now!
* Listen to your intuition, it’s usually right and will help you make decisions aligned to what’s right for you.
* Dance to music you love and preferably with people you love
* What you feed your brain matters, it influences your thoughts and emotions; chose wisely!
* Belly laugh as often as you can with people who light you up, it’s cheaper than therapy!! (A big thank you to my belly laughers, I love you!!)
* Find joy in the simple, normal things! This can lead to feeling more contentment in our lives (Santosha)
* Try to let go of the insignificant things, if you’re not going to remember them in 5 years time then it probably doesn’t matter. Life’s short try to make the most of it!
* Nothing is perfect, learn how to ride the waves rather than seek out something that is unattainable.
* Be kind to yourself and others. Kindness and compassion go a long way (Ahimsa)
* Act with integrity
* Let go of what other people think; they haven’t walked in your shoes.
* If you have negative thoughts about something/ someone get curious, what’s raising in you? How you perceive the world and others is often a reflection of your own psychological make up.
* Listen to your body, it tells you more than you might realise! And rest when you need to.
* Consistency and discipline are essential when it comes to my yoga practice, maybe yours too? Even 10 minutes a day may be more meaningful than an hour class only once a week (Tapas)
* Breathe (pranayama)
* Meditate - and this doesn’t have to be sat down clearing the mind, become more mindful, notice, observe and become a witness to our thoughts (Dhyana)
* Pause before you react!! (This continues to a work in progress!)
* Be honest, in thoughts words and actions (Satya)
* Human suffering happens everyday, finding ways to navigate the challenges may be the secret to a fulfilled life
* Forever a student, keep learning, keep growing, evolving and practising. Yoga is a life long journey, a practice, not a destination or perfect pose! And most importantly, enjoy the ride!!
I have a few spaces in my Monday class, as a birthday treat I’m offering a free first class to new students. Please message me to book
