Greener Growth

Greener Growth Greener Growth transforms neglected spaces into vibrant, food-producing, and biodiversity-rich areas. Join us in growing greener futures! 🌿🌱

We empower communities, schools, and businesses to nurture nature and thrive. At Greener Growth we develop food-producing resources and horticultural projects that encourage the wellbeing of participants, turn under-utilized land into productive resources and improve social cohesion. Our projects are targeted at villages, towns and cities for a wide range of community areas such as schools, colleg

es, universities, housing estates, business parks and offices, care homes and prisons. Our scope of work also includes community kitchen garden schemes, farming, traditional orchards, flower meadows to attract wildlife, watercourses and ponds, beehives, recreational resources and footpaths. We have developed a strong reputation for working with disadvantaged members of society, with a particular focus on prisons, ex-offenders and the homeless where the personal effect of inclusion has been transformative. Encouraging sustained social cohesion and wellbeing through nature involves adopting principles including permaculture, conservation and biodiversity. By following this approach, we offer participants choice and believe that carefully planned, sensory rich and engaging outdoor spaces can play an important role in reintroducing people to the health and therapeutic benefits of growing their own food, promoting well-being and enhancing life skills of the communities that we work with.

✨ Reconnect, create, and unwind with Greener Growth’s Willow Weaving Workshops

Our willow weaving workshops offer a hands‑on, nature‑based way for teams, staff groups, and communities to slow down, get creative, and rediscover the wellbeing benefits of working with natural materials.

We’ve delivered these sessions in all kinds of settings — from public service team building and staff wellbeing initiatives, such as East Suffolk Council at Riduna Park in Melton, to community space, prisons, and various others groups. Whether indoors or outdoors, the focus is the same: helping people feel grounded, inspired, and connected.

🌱 What we offer
Team‑building workshops for companies, public services, and staff wellbeing days

One‑off sessions or a full series tailored to your organisation

Creative willow weaving using locally sourced materials

Seasonal makes such as wreaths, sculptures, plant supports, and decorative pieces

Relaxed, supportive facilitation suitable for all abilities

🌿 Beyond willow weaving
If your organisation is looking for a deeper staff wellbeing offer, we also design nature‑based programmes built around food growing, herbs, wildlife habitats, and outdoor creativity. These can support staff resilience, connection, and mental wellbeing throughout the year.

šŸƒ Why it works
Working with natural materials helps people slow down, focus, and reconnect with something simple and grounding. It’s a chance to step away from screens, use your hands, and rediscover the calm that comes from making something beautiful from the natural world.

Let’s bring creativity, nature, and wellbeing into your workplace or community.

Spring is arriving — and our pollinators need a helping hand!

As the days warm up, solitary bees, ladybirds and other beneficial insects are emerging and looking for safe places to shelter, nest and thrive. Our Greener Growth Pollinator Havens (bug boxes) are designed to give them exactly that.

These handmade habitats support the tiny workers that keep our ecosystems running — from pollinating fruit trees and veg patches to naturally managing pests in gardens and green spaces.

šŸ Why they matter

Provide essential nesting sites for solitary bees

Offer refuge for ladybirds, lacewings and other natural pest‑controllers

Boost biodiversity in gardens, schools, workplaces and community spaces

Support organic, wildlife‑friendly growing.

A small action can make a big difference — for pollinators, for biodiversity, and for the communities we work with.

It Only Takes One Person to Start Something Brilliant.

Look around your village or city. Do you see that neglected corner? That under-used patch of grass? At Greener Growth, we see those spaces as hidden treasures waiting to be revived.
Communities are the backbone of society, and we believe the best way to strengthen them is by bringing people back to nature. We’re on a mission to turn forgotten areas into:

Abundant vegetable patches for local food.

Vibrant flowerbeds to boost biodiversity.

Peaceful spaces to relax, meet, and breathe.

It’s time to put away the screens and pick up the trowels. Transforming a whole community might sound like a huge task, but it all starts with a single seed of an idea.

Could that person be you?

🌊 We’re pond mad — and proud of it!
At Greener Growth, we believe ponds are one of the most powerful tools for restoring biodiversity, supporting wellbeing, and transforming outdoor spaces. Whether it’s a wildlife pond in the ground or a raised pond with seating, we design them for schools, prisons, workplaces, and community areas — safely, creatively, and beautifully.

Why are we pond mad?
šŸ¦‹ Ponds support more species per square metre than almost any other habitat
🌱 They help pollinators, amphibians, birds, and soil life thrive
šŸ’§ They regulate water, reduce flooding, and cool microclimates
🌿 They offer calming, nature‑rich spaces for learning, reflection, and connection

From tiny frogs to dragonflies, from quiet corners to vibrant ecosystems — ponds bring life. And we love creating them.

If you’ve got a space, we’ve got the vision. Let’s build something wild together.

🌼 A little wildflower can go a very long way.

So many of our towns, workplaces, schools, and community spaces are dominated by concrete — hard, grey, heat‑absorbing surfaces that do nothing for wildlife or wellbeing. But the moment you introduce wildflowers, everything changes.

Wildflowers bring colour, movement, and life back into places that feel forgotten. They soften harsh edges, lift people’s spirits, and create tiny pockets of beauty where you’d least expect it. And the ecological impact is huge:
🌱 Pollinators thrive — bees, butterflies, hoverflies, and beetles depend on diverse wildflower species
šŸ¦‹ Biodiversity increases — even small patches become stepping‑stones for wildlife
šŸŒ Urban resilience improves — wildflowers help cool surfaces, absorb water, and support healthier soils
šŸ’š People feel better — nature-rich spaces reduce stress and boost wellbeing
Brightening up concrete isn’t just about aesthetics. It’s about restoring balance, supporting life, and proving that even the smallest interventions can spark big ecological change.

This is the wildflower we planted at one of our sites on an industrial site. If you’ve got a patch of grey that could use a little colour, wildflowers are one of the simplest, most powerful ways to start rewilding.

🌳 National Tree Week Highlights with Greener Growth

Our founder, Jo Metcalfe, joined Karen Cannard on Suffolk Sound to share the impact of our work across Suffolk — from corporate biodiversity projects to transforming school environments for children who need nature most.
At Riduna Park in Melton, Jo and Karen explored our flagship corporate site, where raised wildlife ponds and nature‑rich spaces support both biodiversity and staff wellbeing. The site has become a community asset too, with more than 20 local residents now visiting regularly to enjoy the wildlife.

Jo also spotlighted the importance of protecting veteran trees. Ancient oaks can support up to 200 species and provide habitat for more than a century as they slowly decline. We now work with specialist ecologists to help corporate clients manage these irreplaceable trees using best‑practice guidance from the Ancient Tree Forum.

One of our most exciting projects is the transformation of Springfield Junior School in Ipswich. With 341 pupils — many without access to gardens — we’re turning a tarmac playground into a green oasis featuring raised beds, vertical planting, pergolas, and student‑maintained tree pits.

We’ve raised Ā£13,000 of the Ā£30,000 target, and we’re calling on Ipswich businesses to help us reach the finish line through sponsorship or volunteer days.
Across Suffolk, our horticultural therapy programmes continue to grow. With 27 schools on our waiting list, we’re helping children learn about food growing, wildlife, and native species — often giving them their first encounter with frogs, toads, and the natural world. For many pupils, especially those who struggle in the classroom, these outdoor spaces are life‑changing.

🌿 Wildlife ponds: small spaces, huge impact

At Greener Growth, we know we talk a lot about wildlife ponds and their value! We design and build wildlife ponds for almost any setting — whether that’s a staff wellbeing area at work, a safe and accessible pond for schools, a secure installation for prisons, or a community green space.

From in‑ground ponds to beautifully crafted raised ponds with integrated seating, we tailor every design to the space, the people using it, and the wildlife it will support. Whatever the environment, we bring the creativity to make it work.

Why ponds matter:

🌱 They’re one of the richest habitats you can create

šŸ¦‹ They support insects, amphibians, birds, and pollinators

šŸ’§ They help regulate local ecosystems and boost biodiversity

🌾 They offer calming, nature‑rich spaces for learning, reflection, and wellbeing

Even a small pond can become a thriving micro‑ecosystem — and a powerful tool for education, rehabilitation, and community connection.

If you’re looking to bring more life, learning, and wellbeing into your outdoor space, we’d love to help you create something special.

🌱 Composting in Action at East Suffolk House, Riduna Park
At our Greener Growth site in Melton, we’ve established a large composting area that’s more than just a pile of garden waste — it’s a living system that supports biodiversity, soil health, and long‑term sustainability.

By layering organic materials from the site — leaves, twigs, grass, and food waste — we’re creating nutrient‑dense compost that feeds the soil and supports thriving ecosystems. Our approach encourages microbial diversity, improves soil structure, and helps retain moisture naturally.

This biodiverse composting system is a cornerstone of our permaculture‑based design ethos. It reduces landfill waste, supports carbon sequestration, and provides a regenerative resource for planting and growing across our projects.
It’s a powerful example of how small‑scale, local action can contribute to big environmental goals — and we’re proud to be doing it in partnership with East Suffolk Council.

🌿 Healthy soil = healthy communities = healthy planet.

🌳 Flashback to our Elmtree Primary x Discover the World Tree Planting Day
Looking back at this brilliant day still brings a smile. The energy, curiosity, and enthusiasm from the pupils at Elmtree Primary made the whole event unforgettable. Together with Discover the World, we planted new trees, explored the importance of biodiversity, and helped the children connect with nature in a hands‑on, meaningful way.
From muddy hands to proud faces, the day was full of learning, teamwork, and genuine excitement about caring for the planet. Moments like these remind us why outdoor education and environmental action matter so much — they plant seeds of awareness that grow for a lifetime.
A huge thank‑you to everyone involved for making it such a positive, impactful experience.
