Today, our path gently changes.
Venerable Sammā Maggo has begun his journey away from this road, returning first to Huong Dao Vipassana Center in Fort Worth, Texas, and then onward to his dwelling place in France. Though he no longer walks beside us in body, his presence continues to move with us—quietly, steadily, and unmistakably—in spirit. 🙏
He walked more than half of the 2,300-mile Walk for Peace. Mile after mile, he carried peace not as an idea or a message, but as a lived practice. There were no speeches, no claims, no need to be noticed. Just commitment, humility, and a heart fully present on the road.
I often watched the way he walked—his back bent low, his gaze resting on the ground just ahead. And I found myself wondering: What does he see?
Perhaps only enough space to place each step with care and sincerity. Perhaps only the moment directly in front of him.
In that posture, a simple truth revealed itself:
When we learn to lower ourselves, life’s weight grows lighter.
When there is nothing left to prove, the strength we already carry becomes enough to take us far.
The Venerable never spoke about endurance. Yet his quiet figure became a teaching in motion. His contagious smile eased long days, softened fatigue, and reminded countless people—walkers and strangers alike—that peace can be transmitted without words. 🌿
Through sun and rain, weariness and silence, his calm strength and mindfulness enriched this sacred Walk for Peace. His presence invited reflection, steadied the group, and gently lifted others from within. Somehow, by watching him walk, many of us stood a little taller inside our own lives.
As he departs from this road, what he offered remains—woven into our steps, our breaths, and our resolve to continue walking with compassion. 🕊️
With deep gratitude, we wish him a safe, peaceful, and mindful journey onward, wherever the path of service and compassion leads next. ✨
May you be well.
May you be happy.
May you be at peace.
May all beings be well, happy, and at peace. 🙏
