November Knitting for Dementia UK 🧶

This November, we are getting all crafty and woolly to raise funds for Dementia UK and the wonderful work they do for those living with Dementia ❤️

You can sponsor our knitting team in 30 minute increments so they can create a beautiful blanket of individual squares made by our staff, residents and their thoughtful families - please see WISH Activity Team Lead Brenda for the form to sponsor 🙏

Great work so far, team, we can’t wait to see the final blanket 🥰

We Will Remember Them ❤️🌹

Yesterday, our ladies, gents, staff and visitors, all stood and honoured all those who died in conflict, in respectful silence. 🙏

Our residents (and staff!) have been busy all week and have been making wonderful poppies and wreaths. They worked really hard to make our display look nice for the special day ❤️

Bonfire Night Baking ⭐️🍫

Last week, our lovely ladies and WISH Activity Team made some delicious sweet treats to celebrate Bonfire Night with 🥰

WISH Activity Team Leas Brenda said, “We made chocolate apples on sticks and chocolate sparklers! There was lots of chocolate, of course, here at Ormskirk… and it never went to plan again as the chocolate didn’t stick to the apples, but the sparklers were great - very yummy! Our two Jennys decided we might as well just eat the chocolate so we all got our sparklers and had a field day dipping in the chocolate. There was laughs galore and obviously lots of reminiscing about Bonfire Night, so much fun was had around that table. Although there was nothing to show at the end as we ate all the chocolate… but isn’t that what chocolate is for!?” 🥰

🎃 Halloween Party 🎃

We had a great afternoon today celebrating Halloween as WISH Activity Team Lead Brenda is away tomorrow and didn’t want anyone to miss out on the spooky fun! 👻

Brenda said, “We had games galore; spider kerplunk, poke the cup with lovely sweet treat inside, hit the balloons with the beanbags, word searches… there was lots of fun! Of course, us being Ormskirk, the music went on and we danced to the monster mash, thriller and we done the time warp too! We had our own duck apple but too cold to duck, so we cheated and used a ladle. We also had sour dipping sweet game some of the faces tasting then was so funny!”

Big thank you to all the staff involved and to Chef Adele for the spooky cupcakes! 🥰

Autumnal Activities 🎃🎨🍁👻

Another fun filled week here at Stocks Hall Ormskirk! Our new WISH Activity Team member, Lynne is doing amazing with our Team Lead Brenda and they have had so much fun last week with our ladies and gents 🥰

From getting ready for Halloween by doing lots of crafts for their display up in the foyer with all the works of art our residents have produced - how creative they have been! To lots of fun games from bean bag tossing, to juggling, and Lynne’s great game in rooms with the acorns and egg boxes getting our residents working out puzzles 🧩

Brenda would like to give a big shout out and thanks to Lynne, what a fantastic impression and effort you have made so far to our home and residents ❤️

A Busy Week at Stocks Hall Ormskirk ❤️

What didn’t we get up to this week! First up we had the lovely Maggie who was with us on work experience from a local college and we painted some autumnal foliage together - our ladies and gents just adored her 🥰

We also did some photo album surgery with WISH Activity Team Lead Brenda, Jean and Edna, who sat organising and fixing Jean’s gorgeous array of pictures back together… which then turned into Jean and Edna reminiscing over wonderful memories with her pictures 📸

Finally we had fun making rice crispie cakes together with Joan, Sheila, Maureen, and Lillian with new WISH Activity Team member Lynne. It was a fun packed day with of course, lots of chocolate 🍫

Star Bakers Successful (No) Bake! ⭐️🧁

It has been a busy week here at Stocks Hall Ormskirk, with afternoons of baking, crafts and reminiscing together ❤️

WISH Activity Team Lead Brenda said, “For once, what we baked turned out lovely… but in fairness it was a ‘no bake cake bar’! No matter though, as it was lovely all the same. Janet, Jean, and Jenny made them and they were snapped up in no time by staff and residents.” 😋

Linda The Bingo Queen 🔴🟡🟣🟢👑

We would like to give our fabulous Care Assistant Linda a big shout out for being the best bingo caller in the land!

WISH Activity Team Lead Brenda says, “Every Friday Linda sets the bingo up with lovely prizes and even dresses up! She really does make the effort, even if 2 residents turn up she goes ahead and makes everyone smile!” ⭐️

Thank you Linda, for all that you do for our ladies and gents ❤️

💚 MacMillan Coffee Morning (Afternoon) 💚

We had a lovely afternoon last week, enjoying a tea, coffee and a slice of cake for the nationwide Coffee Morning for the cancer charity, MacMillan ☕️🍰

WISH Activity Team Lead Brenda said, “Our MacMillan coffee afternoon was so much fun we enjoyed a good get together with lots of cake and raised £35 for this great charity. There was lots of singing and dancing as we always do here at Ormskirk!” 🥰

Although we are nine months into 2025, September always feels like a chance of new beginnings before we head into the final quarter of the year. This month has seen us change to more autumnal activities as the summer weather slowly leaves and cold but cosy evenings are ahead of us.

Baking Teddy Bear Biscuits 🧸🍪

Yesterday, our ladies and WISH Activity Team had a fun baking session making shortbread (well that was the plan!). Lynne our new WISH Activity Team member joined us and it still went a little pear shaped 🙃

WISH Activity Team Lead Brenda said, “You know me and baking… remember the fudge! We had a fun time with Beryl, Jenny, and Maureen. We followed the recipe to the letter and low and behold we got 6 teddy bears out of a mixture that made 30 😂 The important thing is we tried our best and our residents laughed and laughed as you can see by the pictures. They looked ok but I’m not commenting on the taste!”😉
