Making Fortune Tellers 🔮

Who else remembers making fortune tellers out of paper when you were young? After our fortune cookies for Chinese New Year, we decided to tell other people’s futures with our own fortune tellers ✨

A lot of our residents and staff could recall making these when younger so it was a lovely activity session with lots of reminiscence and fun - just look at the joy our little paper fortune tellers brought 🥰📸

This month has been full of love in all shapes and sizes! From love in the shape of hand made bears, made by a wonderful family member at Ormskirk and modelled above by Carolyn herself, our WISH Activity Team and lovely lady Jenny, to the big displays of love and affection shown on Valentine’s Day...

Celebrating Chinese New Year 🧧❤️

Our ladies, gents and staff have been very busy this week preparing for Chinese New Year! Our WISH Activity Team organised lantern making with our residents whilst our kitchen team were preparing a fantastic feast for the occasion 😋

Our fab Chef, Adele, made a delicious Chinese buffet with spring rolls, sweet n sour chicken balls, salt n pepper onion rings, salt n pepper hash browns, and soft noodles with duck in hoisin sauce, with chicken and sweetcorn soup to start! 😍

WISH Activity Team member Brenda said, “We have lots Chinese themed activities coming up to celebrate the year of the horse! We want to say a big thank you to Adele for the menu on Wednesday, it was amazing!” ❤️

Pancake Day Fun! 🥞🍫

Today on Shrove Tuesday, we we warming up our pancake skills with a ‘Toss the Pancake’ activity and we had a right old laugh! 😂

Then in the afternoon we did some pancake decorating and our ladies and gents really enjoyed their creations as a nice treat with a brew. They were all delicious and went down a treat ❤️

Valentine’s Day Activities ❤️

Here at Stocks Hall Ormskirk, we have been making Valentine’s cards and had a Valentine’s dance, which was amazing! 😍

We had husbands and wives, and fathers and daughters dancing, it was just so lovely to see. No one is ever to old for love and it showed the love between our residents and their families today ❤️

The guitar group have been in today, singing all the love songs and everyone was on their feet dancing! Adele our chef made beautiful cakes to put on the tables too, it’s just been so 🥰

Happy Valentine’s Day for tomorrow from us all here at Ormskirk ❤️❤️

🧸 Beautiful Teddy Creations 🧸

From everyone at Stocks Hall Ormskirk, we we would like to say the biggest THANK YOU to our lovely Jenny’s daughter, Carolyn, who made the amazing teddy bears you can see below ❤️

By using our staff’s old uniforms, Carolyn has created such beautiful works of art and comfort, even including photos stitched onto them too! They have brought our staff and residents so much joy 🥰

Thank you so so much Carolyn for your beautiful bears, they will be cherished forever! ✨

Winter Bird Feeders 🐦❤️

We love our little bird friends that live around our home in all the greenery, so what better way to spend the afternoon than making bird feeders to help our little friends get through winter 🥰

Once rolled in seeds and string attached, WISH Activity Team member Lynne and our lovely lady Jenny, braved the cold weather to hang them in and around our garden 🪴

Chef Adele even managed to capture our squirrel friend tucking into the seeds not long after we put them out - a lovely feeling to know our friends aren’t going hungry this winter ❤️

After a truly wonderful Christmas filled with warmth, laughter, and togetherness, we step into January feeling grateful and hopeful. The festive spirit shared across our homes has left us with many special memories and we want to keep up the fantastic spirit and joy into January.

Balloon Fun 🎈🎈

We have been keeping active and working on our coordination skills with a fun balloon game with our WISH Activity Team!

When we can’t go out for our walks due to the cold snap, we still keep fit and active indoors 💪🥰

Our Finished Blanket ❤️🧶

Cast your minds back to November when we started our knitting project for Dementia UK…well, our ladies, gents, families and staff have been hard at work and have finally finished their masterpiece!

WISH Activity Team Member Brenda said, “We have finally finished our blanket that our residents and families helped to make by knitting all through November for Dementia UK. We haven’t got a total of how much we raised yet but isn’t the blanket lovely!? A lot of hard work has gone into it, with each square made with love. Big thank you to all our residents who sat and knitted away and family members too . Pictured is Irene and Beryl who was so proud when they saw the squares they had knitted put into the blanket.” 🥰

🎄Christmas Day & Boxing Day✨

What lovely and wholesome days we had on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Our staff as always went above and beyond in making our ladies and gents days so special 💖

It was so wonderful to see all our families and visitors come together with their loved ones - it’s what Christmas is all about 🥰
