This week we took a couple of trips to local garden centres to see what they had in store for Autumn! 😀
There were still many flowers and plants to be smelt alongside the incoming autumn and Halloween home and garden wear. 🍁🍂👻
Once we had had a good wander round we made our way to the cafe for a drink and some cake! 🧁🍰☕️🫖

🌏 Preston Care Home Kitchen Manager’s Fundraising Adventure to Cambodia for Local Hospital 🏥

Rad Tingle, kitchen manager at Ribble Court Care Home in Much Hoole, Preston, part of Sandstone Care Group, is set to take on a 10-day trek across Cambodia, with Ribble Court manager Dawn Fawthrop joining for support!

A committed fundraiser, Rad has supported several charitable causes over the past few years and has previously raised money for Lancashire Teaching Hospitals’ renal unit, where he was once a patient.

Today has been a busy Friday!

⭐️ We started by getting ready for September which is national arts in care homes month! Many of our residents, relatives and staff have painted their hands ready to be turned into leaves for our tree of life! 🎨🫟🖌️

⭐️ We then had a friendly game of prize bingo in the afternoon with a few lucky winners! ✍️

🌍✨ Taking on Cambodia for a Cause Close to Home ✨🌍

We are so proud of our very own Kitchen Manager, Rad Tingle, and Care Home Manager, Dawn Fawthorp, who are set to take on a 10-day trek across Cambodia in November 2025! 🥾🇰🇭

This daring duo is aiming to raise £3,500 in support of the Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Renal Unit – the incredible team who cared for Rad during his recent kidney transplant and continue to support him through his ongoing treatment. ❤️

For Rad, this challenge is deeply personal. Living with Von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that causes tumours and cysts to grow in different parts of the body, Rad knows firsthand the vital role the renal unit plays. His determination to give back is nothing short of inspiring.

A little game of bowling today 🎳

⭐️ Our wonderful residents enjoyed a morning of music and active games where they tried to knock down as many pins as they could to beat their peers!
It was so lovely to see all the smiles and hear the laughter bouncing around the lounge 🥰

⭐️ We recently went on a lovely shopping trip to Manchester! Our residents loved having a look round the shops, reminiscing about style from when they were younger and also seeing how different pricing is now!! 🛍️🛍️

After this we went to a local pub for some lunch and a cheeky tipple before heading back home🍲🍴🥪

Today our lovely therapy dog Milo (and owner Les) joined us to bring some cuteness to our Tuesday! 😍🥰

Therapy dogs are fantastic for our residents as they bring a lovely calm presence and bring happiness and smiles. That could be from either seeing our little Milo, having a stroke or even a cuddle! 🐶🐕🐾
