Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity Raising funds for Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Trust to give patients the best possible care ✨🧡

Here at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity, we are dedicated to making a difference to the thousands of patients treated at our hospitals every year. Incredible things are happening across our hospitals each and every day, but there will always be a need for those added extras that can make all the difference to our patients. This is where our charity comes in; we’ve made it our mission to help

fund the items at our hospitals which are over and above what the NHS can provide. We make this possible by raising vital funds to ensure our hospitals are equipped with the very latest in technology, enabling vital research and making our hospitals a little more comfortable for patients and their families. With your support, we can ensure that the patients treated at our hospital have the best possible care, in the very best facilities.

A huge thank you to Mary Brown, who has kindly donated two copies of her book Mrs Brown and Friends , along with colouring books and crayons, to our children’s ward at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust! 📚✨🧡

Mary, a Teaching Assistant at Moor Nook School, was inspired to write her book after noticing an increase in wildlife around her home. She began noting down stories about her “wildlife residents”, which soon became a favourite with her Year 2 class, who especially loved characters such as Cyrill the Squirrel and Fiona the Field Mouse.

Encouraged by her pupils’ enthusiasm, Mary developed these stories into a book so more children could enjoy them. She donated her books as she wanted children spending time in hospital to have access to her stories and find comfort and joy in reading them.

We are very grateful for this thoughtful donation, which will help bring creativity, imagination and smiles to young patients during their time in hospital 🥰

A huge thank you to all of our amazing supporters who have donated Easter eggs for children and young people receiving care across Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust! 🐰🐣🧡

Your generosity has brought so much joy to our wards and clinics, helping to brighten what can be a challenging time for many of our patients.

A special thank you to Stonehouse Pizza & Carvery, The Pig and Whistle- Heywood, Blues and Twos, Volkerstevin, Holiday Inn Preston and HGS 🙌

Your support truly makes a difference. For many of the children and young people we care for, spending Easter at home isn’t possible, so gestures like this help create special moments and lasting smiles.

Thank you again to everyone who contributed!

As we gear up for the Easter season, we’ve been completely overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of our supporters! 🧡

A huge thank you to Lauren Grice from local company Inspired Energy, based in Kirkham, who kindly dropped by the hospital with an amazing donation of Easter eggs, treats, and arts & crafts for our children’s ward at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust 🐣🎨🍫

These wonderful gifts were collected by staff across the company, all to help bring a little joy to children spending Easter in hospital. Your support truly makes a difference and helps create special moments for our young patients and their families.

Thank you for your continued generosity and for thinking of us this Easter!

We’d like to say a big thank you and good luck to our fabulous fundraiser, Jen Hayward, who is facing one of her biggest fears to give something back to Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust! 🏥 🧡

After spending weeks in Royal Preston Hospital with a life-threatening infection, including being readmitted over Christmas, Jen experienced first-hand the incredible care and compassion of our NHS staff.

Now, she’s taking on her biggest fear by abseiling 128ft down Peel Tower this May at our charity abseil - despite being absolutely terrified of heights - all to raise funds for Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity 🥰

On her toughest day, Christmas Day, Jen was given a small gift by the hospital charity team - a simple gesture that meant everything during such a difficult time. Now, she wants to help ensure those “extras” continue for other patients when they need it most.

Jen said:
“I’m absolutely terrified of heights. The thought of going over that edge makes my stomach flip… but after everything the team did for me, a bit of fear feels like a small price to pay.”
We couldn’t be prouder of Jen for taking on this challenge 👏

We would like to say a big thank you to Adib Khan and his family, who recently visited our ICU to present a cheque for £1,805.73 and express their gratitude for the care their daughter, Alexa, received 🧡🕊️

Sadly, Alexa passed away on 21st January. During her time in the Royal Preston Hospital ICU, her family experienced the compassion and dedication of the team, and were also able to stay at Bowland House, our on-site accommodation, allowing them to be close to her during those precious final days.

Adib and his family chose to make this donation as a way of saying thank you and recognising the incredible work of the ICU team at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

We are truly grateful for their kindness and generosity during such a difficult time 🥰
