We want to say a big well done and thank you to Dr Nikki Pilkington, who took on the Amsterdam Marathon on 19th October and raised an incredible £1,452.82 for The SAFE (Sexual Assault Forensic Examination) Centre Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust! 👏🏃‍♀️🧡

Nikki works as a Forensic Physician at the centre and wanted to support the service she is so passionate about. She told us: “We serve the whole of Lancashire including Blackpool and Blackburn, so I wanted to raise some money for service users at our centre.”

Nikki - your dedication to helping others, both in your work and through this amazing challenge, is truly inspiring. Thank you for going the extra mile (quite literally!) for the people we care for 🥰

We’re all set for our Jingle Bell Jog this Sunday - and we’re thrilled to announce we’ll have some very special visitors joining us…The Grinch and Stitch from Mascots Delight, plus Father Christmas himself! 🎄🎅🏻🤩 A real treat for the little ones!

Whether you’re jogging, walking, dancing or jingling your way around the 1-mile route, it’s the perfect festive family day out - all while helping to support our Children’s Fund at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. It’s just £3 per person to enter, or £10 for a family of four!

If you’re going to be at Royal Preston Hospital this Thursday, make sure you pop down to Charters Restaurant between 10am and 2pm for our Charity Christmas Fair!🎄✨

We’ll have a fantastic mix of stallholders offering festive treats, local crafts, Christmas gifts and more - plus a tombola and some festive carols from the brilliant Singing 4 You choir! 🎶

All funds raised will support Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, helping us make a difference for patients and families across our hospitals.

We’d like to give a big thank you to Mrs Laxmiben Mistry, an 85-year-old widow for her generous donation of £2,001 to support local charities! 🙌🧡🏥

The gift has been shared between our hospital charity (£1,000) to support diabetes projects, and Rosemere Cancer Foundation (£1,001), helping patients in our local community.

Our fundraiser Lucy Clark said: ‘We are very grateful to Mrs Mistry for her fantastic donation. Her love of Preston and its people is very apparent’.

There’s still time to join the festive fun at our Jingle Bell Jog next Sunday 30th November, at University of Lancashire - UCLan Sports Arena in Preston! This 1-mile event is perfect for all ages and abilities, whether you’re a seasoned runner or just looking for a fun family day out 🤩

Come along, spread Christmas cheer, and enjoy the festive atmosphere with Santa, a fancy dress contest (with prizes for the best costumes!), and the joy of knowing you’re supporting our Children’s Fund. Thanks to our amazing supporters, the Acute Stroke Therapy Room on Ward 21 at Royal Preston Hospital has been transformed with beautiful new window artwork! 🖼️ 🧡🙌

This new therapy space plays a key role in stroke rehabilitation - supporting group work, motor skills, psychological wellbeing and communication therapy. But as it was previously part of the MAU ward, it felt clinical and uninviting for patients beginning their recovery journey at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Patients told us the space needed something brighter and more uplifting… and thanks to your generosity, it now has exactly that. The new window art creates a more positive, calming and engaging environment, helping to support mood, motivation and therapy outcomes.

Our amazing fundraisers are currently taking on the incredible Angkor Wat Trek in Cambodia! Over five days, they’re trekking through rainforests, paddy fields and mountain foothills in around 30°C heat - all to raise vital funds for Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust! 🙌🇰🇭🛕

Among our inspirational trekkers is 26-year-old Harley Walsh from Preston. Just a few years ago she was a full-time wheelchair user due to a rare neurological condition. Thanks to life-changing surgery at Royal Preston Hospital, she regained her mobility - and now she’s trekking up to 25 km a day through Cambodia to say “thank you”.

Harley’s journey from wheelchair to world trekker is nothing short of inspiring, showing just how life-changing hospital care can be 🧡

We couldn’t be prouder of Harley and all our Angkor Wat trekkers, what an achievement!

We’re delighted that lots of local companies and community groups have already signed up to support our Give a Gift campaign this Christmas - helping us collect presents for patients who will be spending Christmas Day in hospital at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust! 🎁 ✨

It’s amazing to have such fantastic community support, and one of the wonderful businesses taking part is Virgin Money UK Preston!

Naima Patel from the Preston store said:
“We’d absolutely love to take part in the Christmas Give a Gift initiative again this year, it was a real joy to be involved last time and we’re thrilled to help spread festive cheer to patients once more.”

Spending the festive season in hospital is something we all hope to avoid, but for many, it’s a reality. Through Give a Gift, our charity aims to make sure every patient waking up in hospital on Christmas Day receives a small present to bring a smile to their face.

🎅 This year, we’re once again appealing to local companies, community groups, and schools to set up gift collection points, and on Monday 15th December, with the help of Stagecoach, our charity team will be out on the road collecting donations, visiting supporters, and spreading Christmas cheer across the community!

Thank you SO much to Rachael Carroll, who last weekend took on an incredible 10-mile trail run at Helvellyn, and absolutely smashed it in 2 hours, 21 minutes! 🏃‍♀️💪🧡

Inspired by our recent post about raising funds for new gym equipment for staff on our Critical Care Unit (CRCU), Rachael decided she wanted to help too - and has raised an amazing £707.50 for the ward!
