Today is awareness day, aiming to raise awareness about pressure ulcers - how they can affect our daily lives, the problems that can occur if not treated on time and the long-term effects on our daily lives. This year's crucial theme is: "What matters to me is...", focusing on raising awareness of ulcers, education and proactive care and safeguarding vulnerable individuals.

Pressure ulcers are largely avoidable and success in prevention starts with truly listening and adapting care to the person, not just the plan. Anyone can be affected by pressure ulcers, spanning all ages and every care location: home, hospital, care homes, emergency systems (A&E and ambulances) and hospices. That’s why all our carers go through training that covers a full module on pressure sores and redness of the skin to ensure our teams are equipped to spot the first signs of a pressure sore.

This week is Awareness Week.

A week dedicated to raising awareness of pressure sores, ulcers and skin damage. At Alcedo Care, “reacting to red” is a motto we use to ensure all our clients avoid unnecessary skin complaints.

Our Alcedo Care new starter training covers a full module on pressure sores and redness of the skin to ensure our teams are equipped to spot the first signs of a pressure sore.

Actively encouraging movement allows us to help prevent any problems, but also encourages our core values of enriching lives and supporting our clients’ independence.
