Another lovely week ahead here at Hulton House.

As well are our weekly music, art, and exercise therapy, and a visit from PNE armed forces activity coordinator,
we’ve got a visit from The Preston Strummers Ukulele Band next Saturday. In between our fantastic care team will be taking our ‘Whole Home’ approach and leading activities.

Yesterday’s Sport themed exercise therapy session was very busy.

Led by our Coach Dan, from Rise Sports, residents were really engaged and fully participating. It was also lovely to see our new lady taking part too. Now the summer season is here we also had the cricket set out!

Monday was back to normal yesterday, with a full day of music therapy Monday magic. We have all really missed Debbie and were very happy to welcome her back.

As you can see from the photos, she had a full house on every household with lots of engagement noted. Our Assistant Psychologist Hannah, thinks Lytham set a record for the largest number of attendees ever!!

We are closely studying the impact music therapy can have on people living with advancing dementia. Having had such huge success with Debbie and Nordoff and Robbins at Hulton House. L&M Healthcare’s Cherry Tree House haz been the second home in the group to run a pilot test with Nordoff and Robbins. The results are now available to read and are very interesting. MUSIC THERAPY PILOT TEST REPORT NOW PUBLISHED

Following the highly successful introduction of a weekly full day of music therapy at Hulton House in Preston —in collaboration with Nordoff and Robbins (The UK’s largest music therapy charity) — we wanted to test if the same could be replicated at Cherry Tree House in Stockport. Consequently, we ran a Pilot Test over a four-month period from September to December 2025 which was closely monitored and evaluated.

The test yielded substantial, quantified, and extremely positive effects for those residents involved. An article about this has also been published in the April/May edition of Care Home Management magazine.

These promising outcomes have led to L&M Healthcare signing an annual contract with Nordoff and Robbins, ensuring the continued provision of music therapy services for a full day every week for residents at Cherry Tree House. L&M Healthcare are also looking to increase music therapy provision across other homes in the group and to run a third pilot test at Gainsborough House in Warrington.
